Jamie Lynn Spears, Sister to Britney Spears is 16 and Pregnant!

Earlier this year rumors of a potential pregnancy began to hit the internet featuring Jamie Lynn Spears 16 and her long time boyfriend Casey Aldridge , 19. It became apparent that these rumors were false but they are not anymore. In the newest edition of OK! Magazine, due to hit stores soon, Jamie Lynn Spears and her mother Lynn Spears give an indepth interview that reveals that the young Spears is indeed pregnant and that she is keeping the baby. The first pregnancy rumors were false but it turns out that Jamie Lynn confessed to having unprotected sex with Mr. Aldridge and thought she was pregnant after a missed period.

Jamie Lynn Spears stars as the sweet and innocent Zoe on Zoe 101 Nickelodeon and many are waiting to find out what this kids Network will say and how they will handle the controversy. In her own words, Spears has expressed her gratitude with Nickelodeon and says that they have always treated her kindly.

"I haven't spoken to Nickelodeon personally but they have always been so great to me over the past years and have given me so many opportunities."

However kindly they treated her in the past, it still remains to be seen what they will do. They did however release a statement,

"We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."

Zoe 101 ends its 3rd season on Jan. 4 but its producer says that the fourth season has already been filmed and will start in Feb. Makes me wonder how far ahead they do they tape these shows?

As if Jamie Lynn Spears was the first teenager to ever become pregnant, many people online have let their disgust show with the usual disdain and name calling of Spears with "whore" topping the list. I'm sure Britney Spears will somehow be blamed for her sisters pregnancy as well.

The most ironic part of this story is that Spears and Aldridge met each other in church. Casey Aldridge became known to fans when news media reported that he and Spears were shopping for a home or apartment together. Many were dismayed because of Spears' young age.

In the issue of OK! Magazine which hits stores in New York on Wednesday and the rest of the states Friday, Spears says she is 12 weeks along and mentioned that she plans to keep her baby. Some other statements and questions from Spears includes:

What kind of message is this sending to teens about sex before marriage?

"I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait," she told the magazine. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."

After an at home pregnancy test and subsequent doctor visit which proved she was pregnant?

"I took two weeks to myself where I didn't tell anybody."

"Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me."

Lynn broke the news to her mother just before Thanksgiving and her response?

"She was very upset because it wasn't what she expected at all," Spears said. "A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive."

Lynne Spears, mother to Britney and Jamie Lynn says, "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious. She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."

Breaking the news to the baby's father?

"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," she said. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."

Jamie Lynn Spears also states that she plans to raise her child at home in Louisianna so that it can have a normal life. I wish her the best of luck.
