Jamie Lynn Spears's Zoey 101 Canceled?
It appears as if Nickelodeon's Zoey 101 won't survive star Jamie Lynn Spears's pregnancy after all.
After initially gaining the support of the bigwigs at Nickelodeon, Jamie Lynn Spears, best known as the sister of pop star Britney Spears, looks to be out of a job. It appears that Zoey 101 will be canceled.
The fourth season of Zoey 101 has already been taped and it was rumored that the show would go on as planned but it now appears that those in charge at Nickelodeon have changed their mind and will not air the remaining season of the show.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Nickelodeon bosses are still undecided whether to air season four or not, but for now, it looks like it has been canned."
The fourth season of Zoey 101, which has already been taped, was to be the final season of the show even before the pregnancy of its teen star.
Jamie Lynn Spears recently reported that she was three months pregnant, much to the shock of her teen and preteen fans and their parents. Nickelodeon originally made statements in support of their star saying:
"We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."
Those statements did not turn into action to keep Zoey 101 on the air.
Nickelodeon is now planning on doing a teenage sex special on their networks to help to educate their viewing audience on safe sex practices and abstinence.
