Jamie McCourt Affair Allegations Causing Dodger Strife
An Affair by Dodgers Co-Owner Jamie McCourt is Creating Stress in Organization
Now according to Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, his wife Jamie McCourt was only a co-owner of the Dodgers verbally. This would mean that the full ownership of the team resided with Frank McCourt, but would also create a bigger hurdle if the pair finalizes a divorce. It seems that in order for it to be settled, that Jamie McCourt would walk away with half the team, or Frank McCourt would have to buy it from her. What this means, is that the McCourt's could be forced to sell off the Dodgers if things couldn't come to an agreement, and with all of the personnel issues the Dodgers will have this off-season, its just more chaos in the mix.
One fact of the case that doesn't seem to be a matter of debate is whether the Jamie McCourt affair took place. According to one of the Los Angeles Dodger's attorneys, Jamie McCourt already told the team that she had an affair. The other issue at play is that Frank McCourt fired his wife from a position as the team's chief executive. If he fired her for not doing her job, and can prove it, she won't have much to stand against in that regard. If however, it turns out that he fired her for just cheating on him, she could be reinstated to the position. It's quickly going to become one person's word against the other, with both of the McCourt's forced to prove something about Jamie McCourt's job performance.
This case is already turning from interesting to ridiculous as each of the McCourt's says their piece to the media. All of this drama is going to serve as a distraction to the team functioning, and it is definitely going to affect whether players decide to re-sign with the team or free agents decide to come to Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Dodgers were heading in the right direction recently, but with all of this off-the-field drama, its just starting to look like a sad reality show taking place. The whole organization needs to get its act together, and someone needs to buy out the McCourt's before the team is completely dragged through the mud.
