Jane Russell, bombshell of the silver screen of the 1940's and 50's died on February 28, 2011 in her Santa Maria, California home from respiratory-related illness.

It was 1940 when Howard Hughes signed Jane to a seven year contract. Jane Russell was presented to the public in her first movie, "The Outlaw". Jane was quite voluptuous which caused censorship issues. For a time Jane tried her hand at music, recording two singles and an album. She also sang on radio with the Kay Kyser Orchestra. In later years Jane also appeared on Broadway and in television commercials.

Jane starred opposite many leading men of the time; Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Vincent Price, Victor Mature, Hoagy Carmichael, Groucho Marx, Jeff Chandler, and Robert Mitchum.

Jane was married three times. Her first marriage ended in divorce. She remained married to her second and third husbands until their deaths. Jane never had any biological children of her own due to a botched abortion, but would adopt three with her third husband. She is survived by her adopted children, daughter Tracy, sons Thomas and Robert.

    I esp love how she adopted her kids when she couldn't have her own. Sounds like a real classy woman :) I'm sure her kids will miss her, and neat bio on her!
