One of the things I picked up was the Jane Shimmering Bronzer in the Mojave shade for $1.99, it originally retailed for $6.99. It comes in a .24oz round bronze trimmed compact that also holds a mirror and lame bronzer brush on the underside of the compact.
I chose the Mojave shade because it was the deepest shade in stock, and since I'm a brown girl I felt it would show up against my skin.
The Mojave Shimmering Bronzer consists of five different stripes of shades resting next to one another. There's a shimmery vanilla stripe next to a dusty rose color, which is next to a bronze, which is next to a copper, that's across from a dusty mocha brown color.
The copper shade is the brightest color in the Jane compact, but overall the entire palette is rather dull. Even though the colors are warm, the vanilla, rose, and mocha shades have cool tones in it, so I wasn't sure if it would work for my golden brown skin tone.
Jane claims that their Shimmering Bronzer is a "combination of oil-free, light-diffusing shimmering bronzers" that "creates a luminous glow." The bronzer can be applied to the cheeks or it can be used for contouring.
In my excitement to buy discounted makeup I didn't notice that this was a "shimmering" bronzer, I just thought Mojave was a normal matte bronzer, so when I first applied it the results weren't what I had in mind. I wanted to warm up my skin, and this product is more for making it look luminescent.
One swirl of the Jane Bronzer gave my skin a pinky and golden glow, but once I buffed it on, those colors blended into my skin and instead of looking darker my skin just looked radiant. So the Mojave color wasn't a big issue because no specific color in the palette really showed up.
I like the effect of the Mojave Shimmering Bronzer because it makes my skin look gleam, but I noticed that when I used more than one swipe it really started to give my face a silvery sheen which A. made me look like a disco ball and B. emphasized my pores, so I would say less is definitely more with this Jane product.
In the End...
I'm glad I purchased the Jane Shimmering Bronzer in Mojave. The only time I'll probably use it as a blush is during the holidays when a lot of shimmer is fun, but for day to day looks I think I'll use it to highlight the tops of my cheekbones and I'll apply it to the areas under my eyebrows and around my tear ducts.
I recommend it for glowing skin on medium or lighter brown skin tones, but skip it if you have a deep brown complexion I think the silvery shimmer will look ashy against it. I give this 3.5 out of 5 stars.
