Janet Jackson's 2009 AMA Performance Wasn't the Most Shocking...It Was the Most Heartfelt
Janet Jackson's performance can be seen as an emotional performance. The 43 year old singer made several "shout-outs" and tributes to Michael Jackson. She sang her 1989 hit "Miss you Much" and also finished her act up with "Together Again" and sang the lyrics "Everywhere I go, Every smile I see, I know you are there, smilin' back at me.."
It's amazing how talented the Jackson's have stayed throughout their careers. At 43 years of age, Janet Jackson looked ripped and sexy in her snug tan pants and top. She has amazing stamina, as her performance lasted a whopping 7 minutes.
The most entertaining part of her performance is when she had an audience member come up during a portion of her new hit "Make Me." It was entertaining to see an unsuspecting audience member make the singer groove.
The 2009 American Music Awards performers included not only Janet Jackson but J. Lo, Adam Lambert, and Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga shocked the audience by breaking a glass box around her piano. J. Lo shocked the audience by falling off the stage. Adam Lambert shocked the audience by grabbing a backup dancer's head and shoving it in his crotch. And kissing a man. And dragging a woman across the stage in shackles.
I will have to say that Adam Lambert won the "Most Shocking Performance of the Year" award (if there were such a thing). He also undoubtedly won the "Most Inappropriate Performance of all Times" (again, the award doesn't exist - but it should!), an award that Janet Jackson herself was up for because of her ultra-famous Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction. Britney Spears and Madonna were contenders as well because of their steamy girl-on-girl kiss.
Janet Jackson's medley of music entertained the masses and showcased that despite the sadness brought in to her life through the death of Michael, she is still strong and talented. She's remained a rock in the music industry, and is most likely very proud of her brother's 4 amazing (and almost record-breaking) American Music Awards.
Michael Jackson lost Favorite Performer of the Year to Taylor Swift. He still won Favorite Male Artist of the Year in both the Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories. His album "Number Ones" also won two awards.

And one more thing (sorry on a roll here). Janet was one of the only female acts to perform FULLY CLOTHED! Bringing class back to a show that was so full of supposed artists overdoing sex and suggestive dancing. Its pretty pathetic. I miss the music of the 70's, 80's and 90's where talent, even if your voice wasn't as big as Whitney Houston's or Kelly Clarkson's, was the key. But y'all don't hear me though. And thank you for a such postive article! You're rare in this day. Keep up the uplifting work!
Just so you know. Janet sang LIVE and no one in the game who dances and sings does that. Not Spears, not Ciara - none of em. Those girls wouldn't have asses to shake on stage or money to make from it if it weren't for Miss Jackson, and I like both of them. She sang LIVE on her last tour where others are booed out countries. People hatin' on Janet need to quit it. Just feel the love. Trust me its good for ya!
