Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency: "Rather Go Naked Then Wear Fur"

Wearing Fur as Fashion

MB
Janice Dickinson is known as a judge on America's Next Top Model and for her TV show on Oxygen. She is a fashion icon and just completed her anti-fur protest. Janice Dickinson's modeling agency recently instated a fur-free policy that included a fashion, or perhaps no fashion, show on Hollywood Boulevard. Many other celebrities are jumping on the anti-fur band wagon.

Models of the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency strutted down the famous Hollywood Boulevard shouting the slogan, "Rather go naked then wear fur." The event took place right after Janice Dickinson finished her meeting with Peta VP Dan Mathews. The Peta VP showed Janice a movie of what animals go through to produce such attire. Who wouldn't decide to be anti-fur after seeing a bunch of animals being killed?

That's a sure way to win over the media. Many companies still use fur despite the knowledge of the cruelty that goes on. Money is the main issue in fur fashions. It's cheaper to use real fur then it is to make some. The sad part is there are no regulations in East Asia to control how animals are treated within the process of fur production.

Only a few people in the celebrity and fashion industry have stood up for the animals. Heather Mills and Pamela Anderson are just a few who are anti-fur. It's nice to see Janice Dickinson promoting the campaign.

Some celebrities who are hindering the anti-fur campaign include Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton. Maybe they don't know how fur is made or they just don't care? Either way a conscious consumer is better then just buying items for the sake of being popular.

Lifeofamodel.com is running a campaign against Google. Lifeofamodel.com states that Google AdSense displays ads which sell fur and turn a profit from the fur business. I can see the reason why they want to ask Google to remove these ads. Just as I wouldn't want to see porno ads while innocently surfing the net. Dead animal coats are included on my "can do without" list.

For those who don't know how fur is made you can read facts at furisdead.com. Playboy model Holly Madison is featured on the site promoting the "Rather go naked then wear fur" slogan. Famous super model Joanna Kurpa can also be found sporting nothing but a necklace and a beam of light.

Dennis Rodman can be seen in the "Wear ink not mink" ad. The ad states, "Be comfortable in your skin and let animals keep theirs." Other inked celebrities that are featured in the campaign are Franka Potente, Bela B, and Tommy Lee.

The first anti-fur ad was made in 1991, and the campaign is still going strong. It seems to be a slow process of guilt versus fame. More and more celebrities are making the right decisions and maybe Google will too.
