Meanwhile, my order was taken promptly and the food served just as fast. The dinner I ordered was irresistible, plus the company was fun. I just wanted to stay, listen to the music on the jukebox, smell the baked apple pie, and savor my fattening, luscious dessert. So I did stay a little while before going up to the other part of the farm where the fresh fruit and vegetables were. I wanted to take my time through that place so as to not miss any of my family's favorite fresh fruits and vegetables.
The atmosphere was one of a warm, cozy, country farmhouse. It is quite a large nostalgic restaurant, painted a rooster red on the outside like the old red barns with mail-pouch tobacco ads. There is a southern hospitality to this place. The foods were home made and really delicious. Fresh, hot meals served up just like mom would make. And the cook came out and personally talked to me to see if my food was okay. Now that is what I call service and the way places used to be when I was a youngster.
By the way, if you find this business, you will also see greenhouses, a gift shop, farmer's market, and all types of outdoor, country oriented crafts and plants to purchase just up the road from the restaurant, on the opposite side of the restaurant. I loved this area as much as I loved the restaurant.
Also, if you do stop at the gift shoppe, you will find some awesome bargains on fresh fruits, plants, candies, nuts, a really scrumptious looking array of baked goods in their bakery, fresh vegetables, eggs, and so much more. They also have an upstairs filled with candles, trinkets, crafts, candies and such.
So don't just fly on past Janoski's Farms when you see the red rooster color painted on a large, long building. Stop and browse at least. You can find Janoski's Farms on US Route 30, [East toward Pittsburgh or West toward Chester,WV] only ten minutes from Pittsburgh, PA, twenty-five minutes to WV, and about thirty minutes to Ohio as well. It stands out right on the main route, so you cannot miss seeing it.Tell 'em Kat sent ya!
