Jansen Sweet Sinsations is a bakery located in Mason, Ohio that my boyfriend and I found completely by accident one day. While driving to a job fair, we took a wrong turn and literally stumbled across this little bakery. Knowing the large sweet tooth I have, he suggested we return later in the day and we did.

As soon as we walked inside the building we noticed that there was a strong sugar smell in the air, as if cookies and cakes were baked in the back while we waited. There were several large display cases sitting out in the open with dozens of different offerings. I was actually surprised that Jansen Sweet Sinsations had so many different products given that it looked small on the outside.

This is actually a problem though because all of the foods are crammed into the case without a lot of room in between. Basically everything kind of runs together and there were a few things not clearly marked so I'm not sure what they were. We knew the drive back to our apartment and the heat outside wasn't conducive to anything like a large cake since it would melt so we decided to grab a few things: a decorated sugar cookie, vanilla cupcake and frosted pecan brownie.

Everything we bought from Jansen Sweet Sinsations looked so good that we were bound to end up disappointed. First up was the chocolate frosted pecan brownie. The brownie was about 3-4 inches long and 2 inches wide, with a thick slathering of frosting on the top. We both liked this and I especially liked the big chunks of pecans in the brownie. It was so good that we ended up eating the whole thing in the car before we made it home.

Next up was the sugar cookie, which looked really cute with a small smiley face on the front. Unfortunately it looked good, but didn't taste that great. The cookie was very dry and pieces fell off the cookie as we ate it. The icing was very thick and tasted primarily like sugar. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but my boyfriend nailed it when he said that it tasted just like a cookie you'd get from the grocery store.

The last thing we tried was a vanilla cupcake with vanilla icing and colored sugar on top. Once again this tasted like something from a grocery store. It wasn't bad, but it didn't taste fresh or homemade; it actually tasted like the cupcake was frosted, frozen and then sat on the shelf. Jansen Sweet Sinsations claims that all items are homemade from scratch, but you couldn't tell that from our experience.

On the plus side, all the products are fairly cheap. I purchased all three items for less than $3 and that included tax. I was excited to find a bakery like this in the area, but I don't think I'll be returning. Jansen Sweet Sinsations sadly doesn't deliver on the taste.

I agree. The review is a bad review. The place is awesome and glad that we have another choice besides Busken's.

Jen your review sucked, Sweet Sensations has great tasting products, you must be on Busken bakerys dole or you dont have a clue about baked goods.
