January Film Events in the South Country Area

The South Country Central School District encompasses the towns of Brookhaven Hamlet, Bellport, East Patchogue, Yaphank, North Bellport, and parts of Medford. There are many film events for both adults and children that take place throughout the district. Here are the film events for January 2011.

The Tuesday Nite Movie @ Painters'

Painters' Restaurant in Brookhaven Hamlet hosts a free movie and popcorn night at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday. These weekly events are hosted by the Bellport Film Society, and are completely free. Guests can come early for a drink and even dinner, but there is no cover charge whatsoever. The dates and films for January 2011 are scheduled as follows:

January 4, 2011: "Almost Famous"
January 11, 2011: "Slumdog Millionaire"
January 18, 2011: "Sideways"
January 25, 2011: "Meet the Parents"

Thursday Afternoon at the Movies

Every Thursday, the South Country Library offers a free movie at 2:00 p.m. Cookies are served and no registration is required. The dates and films for January 2011 are scheduled as follows:

January 6, 2011: "Inception"
January 13, 2011: "The Other Guys"
January 20, 2011: "The A-Team"
January 27, 2011: "Salt (2010)"

Kid Toons

While not exactly located in the South Country School District Territory, the Island 16: Cinema De Lux is the movie theatre for local residents. Kid Toons is one of the programs offered at Island 16, where a G-rated film is shown. Children are invited to participate in creative activities, listen to stories, watch the film, and get a coupon for a free slice of pizza. Kid Toons will be held on January 8-9, 2011.
