January Love - The Best Month for Dating

The Best Month to Find a Date? January!

Brian Munger
I caught myself in a random conversation about when is the best time to look for your "soul mate." In this conversation, we debated which calendar month yields the most possible chances for you finding your next boyfriend or girlfriend.

Many people will say April or May, as "love is in the air come spring time," but in my humble opinion, the answer to this question is NOT April or May. I think the answer is a no-brainer. January! Yes, January, folks, so if you're reading this article right now as its being published, and you're still single, then you need to get out there right now!

Why January, you ask? The list of reasons is endless:

-January comes after a 5-week span of holidays, get-togethers, parties, and dinners. What worse time to be reminded of being single than Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve? For Thanksgiving and Christmas, you find yourself with all your family . . . most of whom are probably with their significant others . . . and you then realize that the only other single people in attendance are your little 5-year old cousins. Later on, comes New Year's Eve and you end up being a 5th or 7th wheel, as the rest of your crew has somebody to kiss as the clock strikes midnight. You still have fun on these holidays, but once they are over, single people often tell themselves "THIS IS IT, NO MORE! I'M GETTING SOMEONE ASAP!" There you have it . . . you now have a bunch of highly motivated single people in the month of January . . . prowling the streets . . . and possibly looking for YOU!

-January is typically a very cold and frigid month. What better feeling on a cold night than to be bundled up on a couch with a significant other while watching a movie on a Friday night? Sounds like more motivation for singles not be single in January!

-January is not a month where anybody is expected to have a sexy tan, so being ungodly pale is actually acceptable. If you wait until the spring or summer to look for your dates, then you have to worry about going to the beach or lake and revealing your pasty white tummy! So if people mistake you for an albino, then January is the month for you to start mate-hunting!

-For most people, January is the beginning of a very LONG stretch of no holidays or days off until the end of May! This can create a dismal feeling in your insides. What better way to get rid of that icky feeling than finding yourself a good date?! That will totally make you forget about the 150 days of waiting for that next holiday!

-January obviously comes right after Christmas; hence, a lot of us have probably received some fancy new clothing via presents or gift cards! You want to show those clothes off, don't you? Showing these clothes off on a hot date is ideal, don't you think?! Don't wait until after January-by then, those clothes might shrink, or get stained, or some other act of nature may present itself upon them.

-The last reason is the most obvious. February follows January and we all know what event takes place in February. VALENTINES DAY! Being single on V-Day is probably even worse than being single for the Christmas holidays! If you wait until February to find your Valentines Day, you may have waited to long. The smart singles are getting a head start in January!

OK, all the single people reading this article should now be immediately putting on their best clothes, rehearsing their best and funniest stories, and making sure there is no broccoli in their teeth! Now get out there and make something happen! January is the month of a new beginning, so find someone to begin it with!
