Japan advanced to the LLWS International Championship by winning a pool with Germany (representing Europe), Mexico, and Puerto Rico. They had to beat Mexico twice, including a 3-2 win on Tuesday to clinch the pool. The other pool might have been a bit easier for Chinese Taipei, as they just had to get through Saudi Arabia, British Columbia, Canada, and Panama. They beat Canada 23-0 and Saudi Arabia 18-0 before playing Panama on Wednesday. Panama actually took a 1-0 lead, but Chinese Taipei came back to win the game 5-1.
Any other team at the 2010 Little League World Series might be worried about having to play this Chinese Taipei team, but not the kids from Japan. They bring a confidence to every game that they play, and they are a treat for any baseball fan to watch. The respect that the Japanese baseball players have for the game of baseball is very admirable, and something that any team around the world could model itself after. That respect for the game, as well as their fundamentally sound approach, should make them quite a challenge for this Chinese Taipei team.
With both teams coming into this final game as undefeateds, it makes it hard to predict which country could walk away with the victory. They are both 3-0 so far, so realistically they both have a great chance to leave with the 2010 Little League International Championship in hand. Can Japan stop the offensive attack that Chinese Taipei will present? Can Taipei deal with the deliberate styles and slow pitching of the Japanese team? It will definitely be fun to watch, and could be must-see-TV for any baseball fan around the world. We don't know the team that will advance from the United States brackets yet, as they still have to play out pool games on Thursday, but any team could have their work cut out for them against these two impressive International teams.
