If you love unique culture and bringing it into a design in your living room, you might enjoy a Japanese design. This sort of design is based on the Japanese culture. Low tables, curves and comfy pillows are unique to this style. Some people follow the Zen way of design, which is something like a Japanese design. However, Zen design is a bit more technical on where to place items in your house.
Good design in your home is usually something that makes you feel the most comfortable. You don't want objects in your home you don't like or you do not feel comfortable with. If you don't like it or it brings back bad memories, get rid of it. You might have some things you don't like but you don't want to let go of yet. That's fine. Use storage bins. Japanese design is all about you feeling most comfortable in your environment. Do you really like that lamp the way it is? Is that mini statue something you take pleasure in seeing every day or is it just another something to dust on your mantel? You don't want anything in there that doesn't bring you joy.
Next, a Japanese design is very simple. You may find that as you learn more about it things have clean lines and are very tidy too. There is a yin and yang to Japanese design. There might be a hard surface but it is covered in cloth. A comfortable and cozy couch might have a coffee table in front. It could be a number of different things but a Japanese design is easy to pull off if you simply take some time to become familiar with it.
Everyone's tastes are different and you might like some aspects of Japanese design but you might not like all of it. That is okay though. Feel free to mix and match designs that you like. You might be able to find some fine pieces of Japanese design furniture online through auctions or someplace else. If you need some ideas about Japanese design you can check out a few suggestions from magazines that are all about decorating the home. You can also talk to a specialist about designing homes with a Japanese touch to it. It could become a weekend project to make your home look more comfortable to you. It could be a complete restoration of your home if you want to go all the way.
Don't forget the garden either. The Japanese design in gardens is very popular. Nothing square or strait here. There might be rounded paths to walk around and around every corner is a new surprise. It may be a coy pond. It could be just a statute of a spirit. The design you choose can be reflected in everything in the clothes you wear to the garden you have to the house you live in. If you really like the design, it is a great way to experiment and play with some ideas that you might really enjoy.
