When this story first broke, FOX news played audio of Loughner. He could be heard ranting about conscious dreaming and the fact that most people don't use conscious dreaming and they should. It tied into the literacy problem that he alluded to.
Jared Loughner was also concerned about mind control. He thought the government had the ability to control the population with it. He believed that through devices like the television, messages could be subtly sent, received and absorbed by the people watching. Look up Jeff Rense.com, it has many articles on both conscious dreaming (also known as lucid dreaming) and mind control.
Conscious dreaming, lucid dreaming and "controlled hallucinations" have a fairly big following. Enter any of the previous terms in an Internet search and you will garner many sites dealing with conscious dreaming. Go here to see Dreamviews forum. If you want to understand Jared Loughner better, understand where he has been and what he has been doing. He certainly hasn't been spending his time with the Tea Party or white supremest. At this time, I don't know what sites he may or may not have visited to learn about conscious dreaming.
Most people hear about conscious dreaming, laugh and shrug it off. Not so fast. The brain is probably the least understood body part in humans. We don't fully understand how conscious or subconscious events happen or why some people are more likely to achieve conscious dreaming states than others.
Mind over matter is an old saying. Most take that to mean, buck up and keep going, ignore what's bothering you. Prisoners and people who are ill can put themselves in another "place" in order to handle their situations. If we believe that, we have to consider that conscious dreamers can put themselves in places that onlookers cannot see.
There are directions on the Internet on how to reach conscious dreaming. There are sites that tell you how to induce conscious dreaming through drug use. Yet with all of the discussions on Jared Loughner, very few pundits discuss his use of conscious dreaming or controlled hallucinations. Why?
The dream journals that Jared Loughner kept have a lot of answers in them. Does the fact that Jared Loughner was a practicing conscious dreamer give way to an insanity defense? I don't think it should. But I do think that it needs investigating. We don't have to understand or believe in conscious dreaming. That Jared Loughner did is what is important. Many many others are practicing conscious dreaming. Common sense dictates that we find out about it.
