Jarrow Formulas IP6 Antioxidant to Fight Cancer - Product Review

Rebecca Said
I purchased Jarrow Formulas IP6 with Gamma Oryzanol and Ferulic Acid from Vitacost.com for $8 dollars. It has 300 mg in each capsule and bottle contained 120 capsules. I have been purchasing and using this product for about 2 years. I purchased it originally because many people believe it can fight cancer cells. On front label it says, "Supports Natural Cell Defense. A combination of lipid and water soluble antioxidant from rice."

I cannot honestly say if it has worked for me or not. The cancer has not returned but I don't know if that is because of the IP6 or some other factor. According to cancer.org, "Lab studies of cell cultures have shown that IP6 may help put cancer cells on a path toward normal cell death, and may help keep them from spreading to other parts of the body. It may also have effects on tumor blood vessel growth and on the immune system in general. These studies have shown IP6 may have activity against pancreas, breast, prostate, colon, and other cancers. Results of some early studies in cells have also suggested that IP6 may help make certain chemotherapy or hormone therapy drugs work better."

IP6 is an antioxidant normally found in plant fiber and in the cells of your body. I would certainly suggest IP6 from Jarrow Formulas to anyone fighting cancer. According to the holistic vet, IP6 has also been shown to fight kidney stones, high cholesterol and high blood lipids. I have never had any adverse side effects, although it is important to take as directed. It could possibly deplete the iron supply in your body if you take it while eating or with vitamins.

Here are the directions for Jarrow Formulas IP6 Optimizer, "Take 1 or 2 capsules per day with water or juice on an empty stomach, or as directed by your qualified health consultant. Do not take with any other nutrient or medication. IP6 is an efficient mineral chelator and therefore should be taken only on an empty stomach."

It goes on to say, "IP6 Optimizer contains water and lipid soluble components from rice bran (oryza sativa) to provide antioxidant protection to both water and lipid cellular components. IP6 is a water soluble antioxidant and protects against hydroxyl free radicals by chelating with reactive iron. Lipid soluble ferulic acid, a component of gamma oryzanol, and gamma oryzanol are polyphenolic antioxidants that have been studied for their beneficial effects on liver and lipid metabolism and preventing nitrite formation."
