Jason Bateman, Michael Cera from "Arrested Development" Back Together in Movie

See Michael and George Michael in the Same Movie

When the critic-favorite, FOX TV show Arrested Development was canceled in 2006, fans and reviewers alike were a little surprised, but terribly disappointed. The show had been threatened with cancellation since the second season. For a while, the only hope of show devotees was the rumor of a movie. Now, we can be pretty sure that won't materialize, either. The upcoming movie titled "Arrested Development" that will show in 2009 is not related to the TV show.

So, what is someone supposed to do when they need their A.D fix? Well, I have three answers. First, buy the DVDs. There's a ton of extras. All of them are worth watching (again and again). If you're a real fan, I assume you have already done this.

Second, watch "Clark and Michael" at www.clarkandmichael.com. It's an internet show that was shot, produced, and edited by Michael Cera, who played George Michael on Arrested Development. It features cameos from Arrested Development alumni such as Tony Hale and Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of the ill-fated show. "Clark and Michael" is in the same comedic vein as Arrested Development, and I recommend it whole-heartedly. It was produced by CBS.

Finally, go watch anything related to the upcoming movie, Juno. Jason Bateman, who played the main character of Michael on Arrested Development, is one of the star characters along with Michael Cera.

The movie centers around a pregnant high-school student named Juno, who decides to give her baby up for adoption. Jason Bateman plays the potential adopter and Michael Cera plays Juno's boyfriend. Not only does it feature prime Arrested Development alumni, but the movie has already been lauded as one of the best of the year. In fact, Rotten Tomatoes, a portal for movie critics, has yet to find a negative review of it. Only three other movies in 2007 have this honor.

That said, the movie has not had a nationwide release, yet. It won't be released in theaters until December 14. How have the critics managed to see it, then? Well, the movie has been a crowd favorite at the Telluride Film Festival in Telluride, Colorado, and the Toronto International Film Festival in Ontario, Canada. It was first runner-up for the People's Choice award at TIFF. Out of the 349 movies featured at the 2007 festival, that's quite an achievement.

The movie is directed by Jason Reitman, who also directed Thank You for Smoking, and written by Diablo Cody, a blogger-turned-author who received critical fame for her memoir, Candy Girl.

I'm a dabbler. I like to think about trying new things until I suffer anxiety attacks. Once in a while I even forsake the pressure and actually do the things.  View profile

hello! Maybe all Bluth fans could pop along to www.arresteddevelopment2009.com - a petition for an AD Christmas special which is beginning to snowball.

    Thx!
