Jason Castro "Packs His Suitcase"

American Idol is Down to Three, as Castro Leaves Without a Grin

The suspense is over, and this week really wasn't all that hard to predict. After all, Jason Castro really dug his own grave when he butchered Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" and forgot the words to Bon Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man." While I struggled to watch the show Tuesday night, in a way I knew that Castro wanted to be voted off. If his suspicious grinning didn't give it away, well then I don't know what else would have? Perhaps it was the way he performed Tuesday? Or the lack of?

There have been weeks where Castro has brought his best vocals and performances to the stage, and there were times where he was the best, but Tuesday definitely proved to America that he shouldn't be on American Idol anymore, and even more so, shocked his fans into oblivion. Jason Castro is 20 years old and is from Rockwall, Texas. He had looks that many girls desired, which was a large part of why he was on the show for so long (Smithson and Johns getting voted off before him), but I can't totally knock him, like I said before, he has performed very well before.

So let the truth be told... Again... Jason Castro was voted off American Idol, and if Simon couldn't have been anymore right. He did after all state: "Jason, I'd pack your suitcase." Castro told Ryan Seacrest earlier in Wednesday Night's show: "I think it's just getting tough for me. I think my inexperience is coming in," which really surprised me, seeing that he had already made it this far. If his inexperience is setting in, well why now? I think Castro wanted to prove something to his fans and to himself, and that is that he could make it as far as he did, and possibly even further, but without truly knowing.

When Castro finished his rendition on Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff", Simon utterly stated: "I don't know what you're thinking," with Castro replying: "I'm thinking, Bob Marley!" Anyhow, if this was supposed to be a joke, I'm not sure it was all that funny to all of the Castro fans who stood by him week after week, but he did make it a run.

American Idol is now down to the final three, and they are Syesha Mercado, David Cook, and David Archuleta. It's going to be a tough final road for them all, but I think it will come down to the two David's. Good luck to them all though!

I thought Jason was quite classy about his elimination--he knew he deserved to go home.

It was time for him to go. He should do well on the tour, though.

Great recap...although I really enjoyed him, he is such a unique performer and personality, it was definitely time for him to go!
