Jason Castro Slaughtered His Career with Bob Marley and Bob Dylan

Amy Cox
He may have sung I Shot the Sheriff on American Idol, but the only bullets flying on the show were the figurative bullets that were shattering Jason Castro's career. It is not a secret that Castro is ready to go home. He has made that clear, with every smirk on his face and his "awe shucks" demeanor. He became Sanjaya last night, thought, and that is a shame. Somehow, Jason Castro sold out to the other side, the dark side of American Idol saboteurs.

I Shot the Sheriff really wasn't all that bad. Compared to Mr. Tambourine Man, it was really quite good. The judges were very harsh when critiquing Castro, but I Shot the Sheriff was fun. Castro bounced around on the American Idol stage, and appeared to be having a good time. His dreads bounced up and down as he giddily performed the Bob Marley song.

Mr. Tambourine Man was Castro's fatal error, though. When he forgot the lyrics, he chose to goofily hum out the melody.

Big mistake.

One of Jason Castro's biggest problems on American Idol has been his inability to take the show and performances seriously. He never knows songs by the mentors. He's never seen an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. He's "Doing Bob Marley!" He has made a joke and a mockery out of American Idol.

And now he has hummed out the words of one of the greatest Bob Dylan songs of all time. It was actually even worse than when David Archuleta forgot the words to a Beatles classic, or when Brooke White had her infamous stop and restart.

It shows where Jason Castro's mind is.

The boy needs to go home. They need to vote him off, give him a plane ticket, and send him packing. At this point, it would be a mercy vote. It's kind of like killing a horse with a broken leg. Don't stand there and watch him suffer. Get it over with.

If Jason Castro makes it any further on American Idol, he will become season seven's Sanjaya. That is not to say that their talent level is the same. Castro definitely has talent, but his niche does not always play well on American Idol. Instead, it is saying that Castro is using American Idol for laughs, just as Sanjaya did.

If American Idol is truly a talent competition, then it's time to send Jason Castro home. However, if Vote for the Worst has its say, Castro will be back to perform next week. So who will win out, talent or bad performances?

The guy compared to the others has no talent. He only lasted this long because he's the 'model with the dreamy eyes' type. If he was being judged on talent alone he would have been sent packing a long time ago. I'm not familiar with the Bob Dylan song but the Bob Marley was atrocious.
I will agree however, that most Americans don't care for or appreciate reggae in its natural form, although your musicians tends to use the drum patterns or the reggae percussionists. Bob Marley was great musician and perfectionist and his album Exodus was voted Album Of The Century by Time Magazine. So his music is only a mockery of American Idol in that Americans don't appreciate reggae, although funny enough your musicians do.
At least Bob Dylan appreciates what reggae producers can do. Sly and Robbie worked on his album Infidel. They are famed reggae producers who have worked with many musicians from around the world.

Sorry but Jason sucked big time and they were other persons with more talen

If Jason recorded the Bob Dylan song "Mr. Tambourine Man", I would by it (If it were complete)...He sounded great on the part he did sing...
I just wish him the best...

Jason is lazy and I believe feels entitled. When he says he finds it hard to learn two songs it only shows what a waste of time he is.

So you have to like the songs the mentors have written in order to be a "good Idol contestant?" That's bull. Jason sucked last night for sure, but to say that singing a Marley song is a mockery of American Idol, that just makes you retarded. Why be on Idol at all, if you can't do what all of the judges say to do in the first place: be yourself. Castro is obviously not the pop star type (more power to him) and not knowing Neil frickin Diamond or Andrew Lloyd Weber (who?) songs doesn't make him not worthy of the show. He just realizes what a joke it's become.

Haha Becky, have you been reading any of the media out there, or are you sheltered? The media, not just this writer, has been all over Jason. Lighten up. The performance was terrible, and he obviously wants to go home, so chill.

How exactly can you be so ruthless about a 21 year olds whole career. How well do you stand under pressure MS COX? I feel you should be fired.
