Jason Castro's Diamond Performances on American Idol

Jason Castro had to do not one, but two Neil Diamond songs on American Idol tonight. He sang "Forever in Blue Jeans" and "September Morn'." For "Forever in Blue Jeans" Jason picked up his acoustic guitar and strummed along. Violins in the background nicely complimented Jason's breezy style. With "September Morn'," Jason didn't play an instrument and just sang along with the band's accompaniment.

Simon looked bored through the performance. The judges comments weren't very positive. Randy said it was just OK. Paula wasn't impressed and Simon called his performance "forgettable" and that Jason hadn't been himself the last two weeks of the competition. I was surprised that the comments were so harsh. His performances weren't big "wow" performances, but they were passionate and heart-felt.

I think the judges are really starting to try to sway the voters with their comments now. David Archuleta's performance fell below both David Cook and Syesha Mercado's this week, but David A. still got the best reviews of the night. Are the judges just trying to echo the opinion of most teeny-boppers or pushing their own agenda?

Jason will probably stay another week, considering Brooke White and Syesha are both still in the competition. I don't think they are bad singers, but they have consistently been in the bottom for weeks now. Jason Castro is going to be successful no matter what happens because he's a positive, light-filled person who doesn't let things get him down. He'll continue to prosper with whatever he chooses to do. America has fallen in love with his charm and his beautiful blue eyes.

Jason is my favorite among all the remaining contestants, not for his musical ability, but for his easy going personality and for his inner light that you can see glow through the TV screen. I will be sad to see him go when he does, but I know he's still got at least another week left.

I appreciate this article. It is finally nice to read something positive in the media about Jason Castro as he so well deserves it. Thank you.

That's not true that the judges gave David A the most praise. Simon called his performance amateurish, but he called David Cook's brilliant.

Cook got the best comments of the night, not Archuleta. I know you want to continue to call Archuleta overpimped, but it is Cook that is beyond overpimped. Bottom line - that was a horrible theme, a horrible night, and they all sucked.
