Jay Z Leaves Def Jam

Unknown
Jay Z, rapper, was appointed CEO of Def Jam Recordings. This is one of the most respected record labels in Hip Hop history. Since he was inducted into his position he has literally moved everyone's projects to the side and disgruntled all of his employees. Some artists left, some tried to stick it out and flopped, some were not allowed out of their contracts and are stuck in a place they do not want to be.
Jay has to many other responsibilities to be the head of this company. He has his own career, his clothing line, basketball team, club, you name it, he has it. It is also a conflict of interest. How can you be head of the company and put out your own CD. Of course you want to do good. So you use all the marketing for yourself. The other artists suffer for his power trip. And by the way, he isn't selling that well either. Maybe the old man should hang it up himself and let the younger generation who has been patient eat.
Nobody really buys CDs anymore so these artists are trying to make the best albums they can and they need the best marketing strategy they can get. Maybe with Jay Z gone they can achieve something in this music business that is hard to come by these days, success.
