The money raised will be donated to families of New York City firefighters and police who were killed on September 11, 2001. In the 9/11 attacks on NYC, 23 police officers died and 343 firefighters died.
Way to go Jay-Z! It is very generous of you to use your musical talent to help the families of the police and firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11. This benefit concert is a wonderful example of President Obama's call to all Americans to serve the community.
Jay-Z is giving back to the community of NYC to help the families of those murdered on 9/11. This is a wonderful good deed and a wonderful example to all of us to use our talents for the betterment of America and our local communities.
Newsday states that Jay-Z "hopes to raise $1 million dollars" with this benefit concert. According to Newsday, Jay-Z has announced there may be up to ten other musicians performing too. Wonder if Jay-Z's wife Beyonce will perform, either solo or in a duet with Jay-Z?
Tickets will be available Sept 8 and cost $50.
Jay-Z's 11th album, "The Blueprint 3" will be released on September 11th.
CNN notes that Jay-Z was in Los Angeles when the 9/11 attacks struck New York City. This is now his way of giving back to his city. He was born in Brooklyn.
This concert will serve as a reminder of the daily sacrifice all police and firefighters make to protect the public. The safety of our nation rests on their shoulders.
Let's pray that should America ever come under attack again, that the communications systems work and that the firefighters and police are able to stay in contact with their leadership.
NYC lost too many heroes on 9/11. The city failed the public with outdated technology and a failure to manage the crisis effectively.
And it is now eight years since the attacks of 9/11 and America has still not captured Osama bin Laden and other key leaders in the 9/11 attacks on NYC and Washington, DC.
Our country must be more proactive to bring these terrorists to justice so the families who lost their beloveds in the attacks may gain closure. As long as Osama bin Laden is a free man America is at risk.
This concert brings needed attention to the need to remember 9/11 and to hope the government is working diligently to prevent future attacks on America.
