Jay-Z and Rihanna Love Affair Rumors Fabricated by Content Producer Jonathan Hay

Celin Childs
As I came across a BET article yesterday stating that one of Associated Contents content producers, Jonathan Hay had sparked up a juicy rumor that rapper Jay Z was cheating on his new wife, singer Beyonce, with singer Rihanna, I begin to think, what is this world coming to? As if I haven't already asked myself this question before. I already know that you can't believe everything that you hear or read and that it is imperative to always look into your sources. But this kind of shocked me. The whole scandal thing was tacky and uncalled for especially when it had the ability to break up a newly formed union.

Hay's decision to fabricate this scandalous rumor really had no justification; however, in his mind he wanted to get Rihanna more attention for publicity purposes. According to the BET article by Andreas Hale, Hay stated that he was trying to get Rihanna and the producer of her first single "Pon De Replay" Vada Nobles some attention in the lime light. When you work by false means to reap benefit you only end up making yourself look like a jerk and a fool. You can't reap rewards with deception, no matter how you look at it. Although the rumor was not true, and it was an attempt to bring some positive publicity to the singer Rihanna, it will still have its' negative effects. She may get some extra attention, but now people will look down on her and Jay Z because of the false accusations. They may even lose loyal fans due to the graphic nature of the rumors.

She is beautiful and there is no doubt in my mind that Beyonce has to be slightly jealous of Rihanna's professional relationship with her new husband. Imagine the devastation that must of crossed Beyonce's mind one the rumor was revealed. Deep down in her heart, she probably believed that it was only a publicity stunt but I know for a fact that she probably thought more than a little bit about actually being caught in the middle of a love triangle with her rapping hubby.

According to the BET Article titled "Rihanna's Publicist Says He Created JayZ/Rihanna Rumors!" by Andreas Hale, Hay is Rihannah's publicist. If she knew about the fabrication before it occurred, I think that she is just as guilty and tacky as Hay. However, according to the article, Rhianna's involvement was completely made up by the publicist.

Hay quotes, "Along with one of my partners, I then began to fabricate stories of Rihanna and Jay-Z, leaking false rumors to tabloids, working internet message boards, etc." He also stated, "We started to get an insane amount of media coverage very fast. There are so many things we did that people don't even know about, not even Rihanna herself."

This statement makes me sick. I am sorry but it does. They made up a lie about two people to get attention. Hay even admitted that he knows that doing something like this is morally wrong but he still thinks it was all for a good cause.

Hay could have not only jeopardized Jay-Z and Beyonce's relationship and tainted the popular singer Rihanna with labels of being a "home wrecker"; he could have also jeopardized all of their careers. I think that what Hay did was morally wrong and just plain out selfish. I not only think that Hay did this for Rihanna and her producer's publicity, but I think that him and his partner did this to bring attention to themselves as well.

Hay is no amateur when it comes to stirring up drama. He is coming out with a book titled Publicity Stunt: The Art of Noise. Here he reveals several instances where he made up rumors during his life as a publicist.

Hay if you are reading this article, you can look at the situation anyway you want, if Rihanna has made it this far without the drama, she will do fine in the future without getting her name degraded. And if I were Beyonce, I would whoop your *%$. No matter how you look at this the decision to falsify such a thing is heinous and immature.
