Fans who seek so-called easy listening may find that Hunter's eclectic style is too much for them, but he strives to appeal to a mass audience rather than only for "jazz snobs."
Jazz critic Sean Westergaard has described Hunter's guitar technique as "mind-boggling ... he's an agile improviser with an ear for great tone, and always has excellent players alongside him in order to make great music, not to show off."
Audience members who sit up close may take not that Hunter has an amazing ability to simultaneously play melodies on the top strings and bass lines on the bottom strings.
Tickets for the Magic Bay show are $18 in advance and $20 at the door.
