Jealousy Kills

What Jealousy Does to Us

Steve Ranslin
A kid named John was just an ordinary kid in high school. He had a lot of friends and everybody seemed to like him. John always had a smile on his face and seemed like he lived a perfect life. Little did people know, there was more to John that meets the eye. He was having problems with his life at home. It all started with one phone call.

The phone call was from John's father. As soon as John picked up the phone, he could tell that there was something wrong by the tone of his dad's voice. It seemed that John's mother had been accused of having an affair with somebody at work. "Why would they accuse her of that, dad?" asked John in disbelief. A pause of silence came over the phone. He could hear his father try and hold back his tears as he tried to explain. "Because it's true, she told me the truth, son," said his father. John began to cry with his father. John's father hung up and came home with his cheating wife a few hours later. John could hardly look at his mother. It took months for his father to forgive her. She said she would never do it again. She said the reason she did it is because she got no attention from John's father at home.

Months had went by and the house was silent. The fact that John's mother had cheated on his father still was on John's mind; but he went about his days like it never happened. It seemed that his mother and father were getting along happily. John's father was digging around the house for something he had lost, and found a bus ticket to Florida stashed away - it belonged to John's mother. When John's mother returned home his father asked her about the tickets. John's mother said that she had a job interview to become a flight attendent and the interview was in Florida. His father asked why she never brought it up to him. She told his father that he would have been angry with her. He told her that if it is for a job interview then he would feel better if she took a plane instead of an unsafe bus. John's dad paid for her trip and hotel in Florida.

After John's mother left for her job interview in Florida, his dad told his friend, who's wife is in fact a flight attendent herself, about her going to Florida. His friend informed him that they do not interview in Florida and has no idea why they would send her there. In suspecion, he went home and got into her e-mails from her personal computer. He found numerous e-mails from a man who lived in Florida. The e-mails were extremely sexual in content, and talked about her plans on going down there to visit him. John's father then got extremely angry and jealous and started to call her. As soon as he told her something about it, she denied it and acted like she had no idea what he was talking about.

John's mother was supposed to come back in three days. She was gone for a week and a half before she called anybody back. She claimed that they cancelled all her flights. She finally came back home late one night after John's dad had been drinking to try and not think about what his wife was doing with the guy he saw online. He did not speak a word to her when she walked in. She did not say anything to him either. John went to his room so he would not have to be apart of the argument that was about to happen. John could hear his parents in the room fighting. He heard his father ask for some paperwork to prove her job interview - she had nothing. After hours of yelling and screaming John hears a scream followed by a gunshot. He then ran into his parents room to find his mother laying dead on the floor. His father had his face in his hands crying. John screamed and cried and called 911. The ambulance came and rushed her to the hospital. Before she arrived at the hospital she had died. John's father served life in prison for the murder of his wife.

People do crazy things out of love. It is amazing the things people will do when they are in love. It is amazing the things people will do when they are jealous. Jealousy forced a man to murder his wife. Jealousy killed John's mother and put his father, who previously had no criminal record at all, in prison. It is even more dangerous to be with somebody you love, who does not love you back. In this case, jealousy out weighed the loved.
