Destroyed Denim is the Spring 2010 Trend
Destroyed denim hasn't been this hot since the eighties. No matter what the cut or fit, jeans for spring 2010 were shredded. Some had a few rips here and there, while others had slices from hip to ankle. The one extremely cool thing about this trend, is that you can do it yourself. A few small frayed slits on the thighs of a worn pair of jeans, and you have turned trash bound denim into recycled fashion.
Cutting jeans wasn't enough of a flashback for the runway. Designers brought back acid wash with a vengeance, leaving jeans with a randomly cool Rorschach effect. Patched jeans were also seen going down the Spring catwalks.
A good brand to try out distressed denim in, is 7 for All Mankind. They have a restrained, yet cool, version of the look in several cuts. These include boyfriend jeans, skinny cut and relaxed fit. Retail prices range from $198 to $325.
Other Spring 2010 Jean Trends
Light Color
Throughout all of the wildly different jean offerings for spring, there was one common factor. It's time to take a hiatus from dark denim. From D&G to Jean Paul Gaultier, light to medium shades of vintage blue are in for Spring 2010. You will also see some pale gray and light navy.
Ankle Cropped
Relax fit jeans that are cropped at the ankle are a big trend for Spring 2010. These can be wide legged or tapered, as long as they end right above the ankle. Keep shoes small and sleek.
Boyfriend Jeans
Boyfriend jeans are back and apparently hear to stay. Wear them with a fitted shirt and sandals, to stay feminine.
Hottest Pair of Jeans for Spring 2010
Surprise rock star jeans of the season are courtesy of Ralph Lauren. His light gray, cropped, ripped and sequined jeans have everything right going on. They even manage to look classy going down the runway, when paired with a blazer and open-toed heels. It will be interesting to see which "It" girls and A-listers are seen sporting these dreamy jeans.

Post a CommentNot much designers can do with denim that hasn't already been done!
I love torn jeans. Just can't wear it right now with this cold weather. Otherwise, I'd do it. But I will do it when it gets warmer. I wonder what I'd look like wearing torn jeans while preggo? Never tried that. And I will never get the chance. Always preggo the most during winter. LOL
