Tony Stewart led the most laps, but after a miscue in the pits he was left chasing Carl Edwards for the win in the third race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Carl Edwards returned to winning form as he dominated the closing laps while Stewart chased him for second place.

As Edwards did his customary celebratory back flip, Stewart was left wondered out loud on his radio , "Somebody tell me how we just lost this race." Juan Pablo Montoya sporting Clorox colors on his #42 Earnhardt Ganassi machine held off a charging Marcos Ambrose who completed his most successful weekend on an oval track, starting on the front row and finishing fourth. Ryan Newman rounded out the top five completing a great weekend for both entries for Stewart Haas Racing.

Martin Truex and Denny Hamlin brought their Toyota entries in fro a sixth and seventh place finish while Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the top performing car for the Hendrick stable. His teammates Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin pulled top twenties and Phoenix winner Jeff Gordon found the wall and ended his hopes of catching Cale Yarborough in all time wins this week. Kurt Busch held on to finish ninth and keep himself tied for the top of the point standing leaving Las Vegas. Brian Vickers returned to the top ten for the first time since abruptly leaving the sport in May of 2010 to address life threatening blood clots.
