Jena 6 Trial Shows Enough Racism
I love this country. It's the only country I know. I don't like racism. Open displays of racism I especially find revolting. The land of the free and the home of the brave and yet when a white person assaults a black person the penalty sounds like to me a slap on the wrists. Situation reversed and the black person gets 15 to 22 years in prison.
Does this make sense to you? Life, all life is important to me. I could care less about the color of your skin, wrong is wrong. The message that is sent out to the rest of the world when color determines consequences for crimes is our country has a long way to go. A message to the rest of the country is white is always right and black is cursed or worse. Hanging a noose from a tree screams hate to the entire planet.

Post a Commentnikki~ I'm with Shamontiel in that I wish you had written a few more paragraphs. Aside from that I think there are many cases of injustice in this country. I wonder how we can be fighting overseas for "democracy" (or whatever lie they're selling this week) when we still haven't achieved the reality of the American Dream for all American citizens.
Please look back into the early mid 1800's to the early 1900's... See how all immigrant groups, here legally, were brutally abused.. Chinese rail workers killed in fires and murdered by the kkk, Irish assaulted for being "Irishers" and, like blacks, had signs saying Irish were not welcome in some public places, Jews condemned for simply being Jewish and killed. Blacks being lynched falls into the same category. And all targeted by bigoted Americans..The kkk are a sad rearing of bigotry's head.. ... But, so were the Black Nationalist Groups...Calling for killing whites only lowers them to the sick level of the kkk... And I agree with you..Not all of those boys deserves ludicrous sentences.. Bell was arrested 4 times prior..Is the sentence a result of his past infractions, or his being black? And what about the white boy who had 7 blacks beat the living hell out of him yesterday? Did he deserve it? Was it racial, or just a case of mismatching socks that infuriated the black youths? I agr
I can not say this enough: people are plotting to kill 6 people and their families for something that has yet to be proved in a court of law. I do believe in the case you keep bringing up, there is proof of those charged and with righful charges in relation to the crime, are in jail, will be tried and sentenced in strict accordance with the law.
Black Nationalist groups came about due to the US government's lack of concern about KKK lynchings of black people, burning down their houses, killing for using a service station rest room, bombing churches and so on. When the government uses the law to lynch black citizens what would you expect black citizens to do, except join together for self protection. What about arresting of a scared kindergarten girl, handcuffing, fingerprinting, photographing and booking her? Does that happen to any Irish/American children?
odannyboy: Now that the Klan is publically calling for vigilante justice and making death threats most especilly for Bell, but the families as well, can you perhaps see the double standards of charging six people with "attempted murder" leading the guilible citizens to believe that was the intent when ONE kid lost his temper and reacted to repeated taunting and provaction, but white kids were not charged with "attempted murder" for instigating the racial tensions with their beatings of black teens?
odannyboy: So why is Justin Stone not going to jail for "22 to 100 years" for his assualt? I am tired and only came back to this article because of yet one more person putting words in my mouth. "Play the race card" is a white bigots statement. Robert Bailey was definitely not "playing and swinging on the ropes". Believe whatever your heart tells you is true and I let the courts do their work. Is wrestling a gun from some one who points it at you a crime? Should you be charged with a crime if you wrestle it from him? I do not want an answer. You will have to go contact the media to get your answers about why. I think it is because they think we, the people are only interestd in Spears/Simpson/Hilton and OJ/Vicks.

I believe Nicki is an interestd party. The sentences are ludicrous. No argument. And while there are white supremecists, please do not tell me there are no black supremeists, And the kids not involved, let them go..But assault is assault. And letting him go because he is black, or was harassed, is crap....And, there were only 2 nooses, though no excuse.. They were taken down because kids of BOTH colors were swinging on them... ANd the "white tree"? BOTH colors of kids were playing under it, as per the testimony of Black and White teachers.. And Bell was indeed on probation...So, tried and convicted? No...Screwed by a media that plays the race card to sell papers and air time....Again...How much publicity was there for the White couple kiied by the 5 Black people? Nothing near what is going on now.I read it in the back of a newspaper...That is sad.... Can't anyone see that the media is the racist perpetrator here?? Halloween Mischief Night: How many teenage boys set bags of dog poop on porches, set them on fire, rang the bell and ran thinking it funny? Did they go to jail for vandelism? How many threw toilet paper over trees and did not get arrested? It is up to a court of law to prove allegations against the 6 kids and give fair and imparial punishment in strict accordance with the laws. But the mass of people seem to think they can accuse, charge, try, judge, condemn and execute based on biased media reporting. I still have not been given one verifiable case where a tennis shoe was cited as a lehtal weapon by all those who want to lynch the Jena 6.
