Jenn Sterger: Brett Favre Sent Me Naked Pictures of Himself

Yesterday, the rumor was that Brett Favre was retiring; today the rumor is that Brett Favre is about to be involved in a sex scandal with a former employee of his former team, the New York Jets, named Jenn Sterger.

News broke today that Brett Favre allegedly used to text naked pictures of himself to Sterger; at least one of these pictures showed Favre sitting naked, except for Crocs on his feet, as he masturbated.

Sterger is semi-famous for being a sexy sports cheerleader and sometime media figure. She was a Florida State cowgirl and then went on to appear in Maxim Magazine as well as Playboy. She was a columnist for a short while on Sports Illustrated's website. Today, she is a host for an online sports show called "The Daily Line".

During the 2008 season, Sterger worked for the New York Jets as an in-house sideline reporter. It was during that time that it is alleged that Brett Favre, who played that one season as the Jets' quarterback, began leaving her somewhat strange voicemails and began texting her, with at least some of the texts being very sexually suggestive. Finally, Favre allegedly sent her a picture of, well, his penis.

Sterger told her version of events to a Deadspin contributor who claims he has seen the evidence of the pictures and heard the voicemails. He is hopeful that she will allow him to publish them as evidence.

For some reason, in recent years athletes feel no fear in using technology that leaves clear evidence that they have been doing something that they shouldn't be doing...or at the very least doing something that is potentially embarrassing if exposed. They seem to forget that they are famous athletes, celebrities really, with a whole lot to lose and letting evidence like this out seems to be a highly self destructive act.

The most famous case, of course, involves Tiger Woods, whose text messages and voicemails ultimately left him little choice but to confess his torrid, and numerous, affairs.

Other athletes have gotten caught with their pants down, literally, through incriminating pictures. Cleveland Indian centerfielder Grady Sizemore, for example, was in pictures that were released of him in very graphic and presumably embarrassing poses.

Sizemore, at least, wasn't married, however. Tiger Woods was and Brett Favre is. While there is generally little surprise when a professional athlete is caught cheating on his wife, it seems difficult to fathom how as high a profile athlete as Brett Favre would willingly text naked pictures of himself . It seems to be a fully fledged phenomenon; in fact, it is often referred to as "athlete dong photos".

While Jenn Sterger says there were no actual sexual relations between her and Brett Favre, if these alleged pictures exist and if they become public, it could be embarrassing for Favre and his family...again, what was he thinking?
