One can only speculate about her motives for posing for GQ. Jennifer Aniston has been at the brunt of negative tabloid press over the Brangelina controversies. Tabloids have written her off as washed up and unlucky in love. By posing for GQ, 39-year-old Jennifer Aniston may be trying to send a positive message, that she is not afraid to be herself and that a 40-year-old woman can still be attractive.
Jennifer Aniston's motives may be similar to supermodel Carol Alt's decision to pose for Playboy. Carol Alt, who is 47 years old, had sought to send a positive message about age and body image. With healthy diet and lifestyle, one can look attractive at any age.
Jennifer Aniston's appearance on GQ may also represent a decision to take her career in a new direction. Although she has tried to break into movies and big-screen, viewers still typecast her as Rachel Greene from Friends.
Still one has to wonder if posing for GQ is just another celebrity's desperate attempt at attention. To her credit, Jennifer Aniston has been relatively classy about the Brangelina Controversy. When Angelina Jolie talked about looking forward to going to work while shooting Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Jennifer Aniston told Vogue that is was "uncool," given that Aniston was still with Brad Pitt at the time. She also told Vanity Fair that "a man divorcing his wife would never be accused of choosing career over children." Still, Jennifer Aniston does not exactly avoid the press. If anything, posing for GQ may just add fuel to the fire.

It's really sad. I don't know why posing nude is such an "accomplishment." She may be trying to shed the America's Sweetheart label, but for what? I agree with a previous poster, what does she think of herself? Great reporting, Tina!
Pretty sad. I don't see why looking hot is what is important to celebrities, and well the rest of the world too. What happens in another 10 or 20 years, then what's left? I don't have respect for women who do that.

She is acting loony because she has finally realised that Brad will never come back to her. I think she was holding a candle for Brad and hoped Angie and Brad would eventually break up and was delusive that he would come back to her. She is really having a mental breakdown and I think this strange behaviour is just the start of her mid life crisis. Why wont she let this gossip finely stop, because she craves the Bermuda triangle and does and says whatever she can to keep it alive, its the only thing of Brad she has left, she just cant let go and move on. She is an embarrassment to other women who move through these situations with dignity and self-respect.
