Jennifer Aniston Transitions to Big Screen

Small Screen Actors and Movies

Like many actors, Jennifer Aniston seeks to succeed movies as well as television. She has achieved some success in films such as Along Came Polly, Office Space, and the Object of My Affection. Jennifer Aniston will also star in several upcoming movies: Marley and Me, Management, and He's Just Not That Into You. Discussions about Marley and Me can be found at CBS through youtube.

Jennifer Aniston: Small Screen Actors

Like many small screen actors, Jennifer Aniston faces the problem of being typecast as Rachel Green from Friends. Successful television roles can be a mixed blessing. Actress Isabel Sanford achieved icon status as Weezy Jefferson, but was never able to win future roles. Audiences were unable to embrace her as anyone other than Weezy Jefferson.

Television actors have achieved varying degrees of success in films. Fellow Friends star Lisa Kudrow's most famous movie role was Michelle Weinberger in Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. Yet Michelle's character was quirky and daffy, very similar to Phoebe Buffay. Gil Bellows resigned from Ally McBeal to pursue a movie career, but vanished into obscurity.

Jennifer Aniston could look to George Clooney for inspiration. Although typecast for his role in ER, George Clooney made a successful transition to big screen, starring movies such as The Perfect Storm and Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? He will return to ER for the final season, having proven himself as both a television and film actor.

Jennifer Aniston: Typecast on Television

At this stage, Jennifer Aniston is still very much a television actress. Because of the iconic status of Friends and Rachel Green, she will have more to overcome than many other television actors. Yet Jennifer Aniston is versatile, more talented than she is given credit. As seen in Along Came Polly and her recent guest appearance on 30 Rock, Jennifer Aniston has a knack for quirky off-color comedy.

Jennifer Aniston comes from a family of actors. Her father, soap opera veteran John Aniston, plays Victor Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives. Having seen the show, he is talented. If Jennifer can combine her comedic talents with her father's compelling flair for the dramatic, it will lend to her success in the movie industry.

Actually, I like her better in movies. Some years ago she did "Picture Perfect" with Kevin Bacon & Jay Mohr and was terrific. In the more recent "The Break-Up" with Vince Vaughn, she was good too.
