The Oscar-nominated idol, Jennifer Hudson, bravely reveals her true feelings about the phenomenal singing contest on television, The American Idol. She shares that when she was still part of the show, she felt "abused, misled and brainwashed". The former American idol hopeful also shares that being a contestant means allowing the show to control you and to let you think whatever they want you to. Even though the exceedingly popular TV show has given the "Dreamgirl" her mark in Hollywood, she boldly stated that she doesn't want to look back to the days when she was still part of the show. Also, Jennifer said that she doesn't believe in looking back specially when those memories aren't worthy to be looked back on. Jennifer Hudson also asserted that American Idol didn't turn her into a singer but instead it transformed her into a character which doesn't depict who she really is.
Jennifer Hudson has certainly gone a long way since her days as a young American Idol contestant. Rubbing shoulders with famous celebrities like Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy used to be one of the talented singer's wildest dreams. It became a reality for Jennifer Hudson when she got the role of Effie White, out of more than 200 other hopeful actresses and singers including American Idol Fantasia Barrino, in the award-winning motion picture, Dreamgirls. Until now, the brilliant singer still can't believe that she's recognized as one of Hollywood's premiere performers.
The Oscars, which is the biggest award-giving body in Hollywood, is just around the corner and Jennifer Hudson is once again hoping for another golden trophy acknowledging her skills as an actress. Having competitors with the like of Abigail Breslin, Cate Blanchett, Adriana Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi, the Oscars will certainly be one exciting night for Jennifer Hudson.
In the wheel of life, an individual can't always tell whether he will succeed or fail in the undertakings. When Jennifer Hudson eagerly entered American idol, she hoped so hard to be the lucky one who'll get the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The experiences she had on the show might have given her a bad past to look back to but the strength as a contestant probably accounts to her assets as an esteemed actress. Even though she lost the competition in American Idol, she definitely is not a loser with all the award-giving bodies acknowledging her performance as an artist new to the craft of acting. The once American Idol hopeful undeniably went a long a way before she finally got her own pot of gold.
