Jennifer Lopez is Rocking as an 'American Idol' Judge

Julia Bodeeb
Jennifer Lopez has had enormous success and longevity in her music career. She built an empire out of her musical talent, and now she scored a spot as a judge on "American Idol." This will give her the chance to nurture upcoming musicians. It must feel great for her to share her knowledge of the business with the young talent.

A Stylish Judge

Jennifer Lopez is following Paula Abdul in bringing some high fashion to the set of American Idol. She is a fashionista for sure. She has her own style of glamor with some funk added in too sometimes.

It adds a bit of fun to the show to see what Jennifer is wearing. Also, her style shows the contestants that looking great is a way to add an extra flourish to a musical performance. Ms. Lopez has built her career by using her amazing voice to entertain and mixing it up with fabulous style to keep her fans enthralled.

A Kind & Informative Judge

Lopez is not on the attack in the feedback she gives the contestants on American Idol. She is realistic, and yet manages to be kind too. She knows the music industry can be very harsh. So she won't be totally nice if someone does not have talent. Cutting out those who do not have the potential for a music career is part of her job as a judge.

Lopez has some favorite contestants picked out already on American Idol. She described the joy of being a judge by saying "It's real people who are really out there going through some stuff and who have dreams. I think that's the magic of it," notes People.

American Idol has already helped some singers make their dream of a music career come true. It will be exciting to see if this season also produces a major sensation ready to take the music industry by storm.

A New York City Gal

Lopez grew up in the Bronx. She is a city gal and has an urban edge to her persona. She is nice but she is not a pushover. She could even be called a New York City diva. Her glamor and edge earns her that title.

A Mom to Twins

Lopez's twins Emme and Max must keep her busy! Someday they will be watching old DVDs of their Mom working on American Idol. I wonder if she wants her kids to go into the music business? With both of their parents in the industry there is certainly a big chance they will want to explore a music career too.

It is fun to see Ms. Lopez interacting with the contestants. She is also amusing when she reacts to the antics of Steven Tyler. American Idol looks like a show that will have longevity. Ms. Lopez and Steven Tyler have brought a new sense of fun to the show. And they are two musicians with such great talent. The contestants are lucky indeed to meet them.

I'm surprised by how much I'm liking this new season of AI so far. I thought that the show would flop without Simon...but maybe not.

Jennifer Lopez, American Idol, and television; these are things I care very little about.

She seems down to earth, though how can you be with her money and entourage? I want her wardrobe, in a couple of sizes larger please. The Idol dynamic has changed, will see how it goes once they start seriously judging contestants.

I like J Lo, but have never been an Idol fan.

    Very cool, thanks Julia!

Send her my way if she needs some consoling. I'll never betray her. (See, this comment works for all kinds of situations).
