Jennifer Lopez Sex Tape "Career Ending"; J Lo Sues Ex for $10 Million

Ojani Noa Still Trying to Cash in on His Marriage to Jennifer Lopez

Saul Relative
J Lo (Jennifer Lopez) is suing her ex-husband, Ojani Noa, for $10 million for breach of privacy over a sex tape she describes as "career ending." It seems that Ojani Noa is still attempting to get something out of the 11-month marriage he shared with Jennifer Lopez back in 1997 (and the first month of 1998). Since he signed a non-disclosure statement in the settlement that kept him from writing a tell-all book about his time with Lopez, the sex tape video would seem to have been off limits. But greed always finds a way and Ojani Noa and filmmaker Ed Meyer are attempting to peddle 11 hours of intimate footage of Jennifer Lopez as a "mockumentary," much of the the video filmed during her and Noa's honeymoon. Ojani Noa and Meyer have already ignored a cease and desist letter sent to them on October 23, so J Lo and her attorneys decided to apply more pressure and sued them.

The sex tape video allegedly shows Jennifer Lopez ""in revealing lack of clothing, and in sexual situations, especially in the hotel room footage from ... [their] honeymoon." Lopez' complaint includes Ojani Noa's attempts at circumventing the aforementioned settlement by marketing the sex tape video not as a realistic depiction but as a "mockumentary."

The complaint reads, according to Courthouse News Service: Noa and Meyer are "producing and marketing for sale a feature film titled 'How I Married Jennifer Lopez: The JLo and Ojani Noa Story' ... which they describe as the '(s)tory of Jennifer's Lopez's tumultuous first marriage to Cuban immigrant, chef and model Ojani Noa.' Meyer also claims to have acquired from Noa the exclusive rights to what Meyer described as '11+ hours of previously unseen home video footage of Jennifer Lopez and Ojani Noa'."

Jennifer Lopez' attorney informed Ed Meyer on November 2 that he was violating the settlement. In her complaint, Lopez states that Meyer replied in an e-mail "that the injunction is '100% ineffective.'" Meyer later e-mailed that the injunction had limited jurisdiction and effectiveness because it was a 'State Court' injunction. He wrote: "'I don't even need to litigate this in the court system, as I can litigate it in the media.'"

With the battle lines drawn, Jennifer Lopez sued for $10 million in damages, plus costs, for invasion of privacy, violation of publicity rights and breach of contract.

Meyer maintains that the film is a parody and, therefore, protected by law, but when Jennifer Lopez' attorneys asked to view the "sex tape" video, Meyer ignored their entreaties. The film lists Ojani Noa as the writer, Ed Meyer as the executive producer, according to a casting notice that was posted on the TalentRep.breakdownexpress.com web site.

It is almost impossible now for Jennifer Lopez to stop the release of the sex tape video, as many before her have discovered, so a lawsuit attempting to derail or at least impact the profit made from the film becomes the usual recourse. Pamela Anderson sued and won a $1.5 million settlement against Internet Entertainment Group after a sex tape video of her and former husband Tommy Lee (of the rock group Motley Crue) was made available over the internet. She had attempted to block the video's release and dissemination but was unsuccessful.

Shauna Sand, ex-Playboy Playmate and Lorenzo Lamas' ex-wife, made headlines last month when Vivid announced they were releasing a hardcore sex video of her. She told TMZ she was attempting to block the sex video's release but Vivid launched "Shauna Sand Exposed" on October 19. Shauna Sand did have her attorney send a cease and desist order to Vivid but when Vivid Entertainment co-chairman Steve Hirsch provided proof that Sand had signed off on the sex tape video, Shauna Sand was the party that desisted.

Well written. I just wonder how long it will take for the stars to wake up and trust no one, not even the person they are married to. They make sex tapes.
And then get divorced and for later on to find themselves in this trouble. If they will be wiser and not record anything that can backfire in the future.
    Hope they will become wiser.

It's interesting that J Lo would describe the tape as "career ending." Sex tapes usually end up boosting careers, but there's always a first time, I suppose. By describing it as a "career ending" all she does is pique interest in it.

What coverage! Lopez is describing this as "career ending"? I'm a bit taken aback since I wonder about the value of making such a statement. Usually they stay in denial about a career ending until long after others have called their careers dead. Excellent, Saul, per usual.
