Jennifer Love Hewitt in Hit TV Series "Ghost Whisperer"

Hewitt Finally Finds a Place of Her Own in Hit Television Series

Jennifer Love Hewitt has gone by both Jennifer Hewitt and Love Hewitt. And yes, "Love" is indeed her middle name. I truly hope her friends take advantage of that fact when cracking jokes. The star of the popular television series "Ghost Whisperer" was born in Waco, Texas, in 1979, making her official debut at the age of 3 by singing at a livestock show. Only in Texas.

However, she grew up in Harker Heights, Texas, living with her mother after her parents divorced. A further interesting note about her family is that she was not named by her parents, but by her brother, who liked the name Jennifer because that was the name of the girl he liked at the time.

Her mother took note of Jennifer's talents and put her in jazz, tap and ballet classes when she was 5 years old. As a result of that, she was able to join the Texas Show Team, and to tour through Europe with them. When Jennifer was 10 years old, she moved to Los Angeles with her family and was soon doing commercials. In 1984, she won a role on Disney's "Kids Incorporated." A series of failed projects followed after that, before she wound up on "Party of Five" in 1995. She also had a role in "Sister Act 2."

There are plenty of fun facts about Hewitt. For one thing, she isn't very tall. At 5 feet, 2 ½ inches, she was almost 8 inches shorter than her former co-star Aisha Tyler, who is 6 feet tall. Though there are plenty of things that Jennifer can do, that most people can't, she is unable to either drive an automobile with a manual transmission or ride a bicycle.

Luckily for Jennifer, she never put all her eggs in one basket, career-wise. She originally wanted to become known as a singer, and in fact released a CD called "BareNaked" in 2002. However, she also released two before that one, which were listed as Teen Pop. "BareNaked" is listed as Adult Alternative Pop. Though she originally wanted to go to Los Angeles to be a singer, but getting a role on "Party of Five" changed her plans.

Her connection with the music world doesn't end there, however. She appeared in Enrique Iglesias's music video "Hero" as the love interest. She also used to date singer John Mayer. He wrote a song about her - "Your Body Is a Wonderland."

It's great that she has some cool music credits to her name, but some of us are awfully glad the acting world nabbed her instead. ###

I read that she wanted to be called beautiful just once, so that she wouldn't have to be "cute."

I think Jennifer Love Hewitt is such a classy lady. I love her on that show!

Thanks for the compliment. It seems a lot of people are from Texas. I guess it makes sense, since it's such a huge state. Melinda and Jim (especially the Jim part) are adorable.

I have enjoyed watching The Ghost Whisperer (it helps that it's on Friday nights when there is not much on!) The season finale definitely left me hanging. I didn't know a lot of those things about Jennifer Love Hewitt (including that she was born in Texas...my first roommate in college was actually from Harker Heights!) Great article.
