Elderly people get confused easily and tend to panic and look bewildered when your eyes meet. This is normal for aging people to do. Loved ones can help by just learning how to change the subject when the tough times start rolling. Tell your aging loved ones that there perfect and you think they're just all it. Then laugh and maybe even tickle them. You'll see they'll smile and laugh right back. You may have just made their day.
All people are really all a like. We all need time spent with the ones that we love. Give a little time and you'll see more smiles and not so many frowns.
Go visit a nursing home and see how many elderly people are smiling. You'll see hardly any. They tend to get lonely and frustrated. They're confused. Then when they don't seem to remember anyone, this makes them more confused. The elderly people want their family to need them, no matter how forgetful and unstable they maybe acting. They would tell you if they could, that they never want you to go away. All they would say is," Please Stay."
The next time you're with your aging loved one, look into their eyes and let them feel the strength that lies behind your beautiful eyes. Eyes were invented for more than just seeing straight ahead of us. It's also for being able to see what lies within each other's spirits.
What are you waiting for? Haven't you got someone you need to visit?

Very important info. I have a great deal of respect for the elderly. We all must remember, if we're blessed with a long life, some day we'll be elderly too.
Very true information in this.
So true. Good article.
You're so sweet and loving. Many people can learn from you how to treat the elderly.
It's so sad the way we treat the elderly in this culture. Not so elsewhere in the world. We could learn something from them. Beautifully done, Jenny. :-)
Well done, Jenny! So many elderly people are simply put away and forgotten about. Very sad.
