Jeremy Brosowsky and the Eco Friendly Compost Cab

Is the Compost Cab Coming to Your Street - You Might See This Earth-Friendly Yellow Truck/Cab If You Live in Washington D.C

Many leftover and usable vegetable parts, such as celery tops, can be bagged and stored in the freezer until enough is collected to make a soup stock - but what happens to all the other biodegradable green organic waste in cities and towns that can't be recycled into a healthy vegetable stock?

Many consumers striving for a greener way of living are discovering more helpful ideas to make a safer and healthier planet. Electric composting systems that are lightweight, low-cost, leak-proof, rodent-proof and odor-free might be designed for some apartment residents with limited space.

For the adventurous - build a small and covered worm bin indoors?

Use untreated wood or plastic and add ventilation. Order composting worms from a garden catalogue or buy red wigglers at the local bait shop. Line the bin with moist shredded newspaper, or cardboard and bury the food scraps. Worms will turn the table scraps into a nutrient-rich compost for container gardening.

Worker worms?

A pound of worms could digest up to a half-pound of food a day: coffee grounds, coffee filters, egg shells and more. This saves biodegradable organic waste from the landfills and makes it reusable as nutrient-rich soil for growing nutrient-rich food.

Another idea - the Compost Cab

A new idea from entrepreneur, Jeremy Brosowsky, may have a workable solution with the Compost Cab. For $32 a month this company provides a clean trash bin every week, with a compostable bag liner for consumers to fill with organic waste. The full bin is replaced with a clean bin and a new bag. The green biodegradable waste is hauled to a nearby farm to turn into compost.

Who qualifies?

The Compost Cab could be available to all kinds of housing, from homes to condos, co-ops, rental apartments , and providing even composting services for weddings, restaurants, public and private schools.

Receive your own fully composted green waste

Apartment residents may find a use for five or more pounds of compost for indoor houseplants, herbs or a balcony planter. After being a member of this service for nine months the subscriber may choose to claim some of their own composted garden soil. For every 50 pounds of their own collected garden waste the consumer may receive five pounds of fresh compost and one pound of worm castings. Composting is an earth friendly way to reuse and give back to the earth.
