Jericho Revived for a New Season

Details of the First Episode of Jericho, Season Two

Sally Albright
For those who have not watched this series before, Jericho, is a drama about a small town in Kansas, called Jericho, which is isolated from the world due to nuclear attacks. In the last episode of the first season Jake Green's Dad, Johnston, dies in a battle with a hostile neighboring town.

In the beginning of the show Jake makes mention of a new government which has been formed, flying a new flag. And then we lead in to the opening scene when Jake lays eyes on the enemy, a man from a hostile neighboring town who killed his father. Each man is asked to tell their side of the story about the battle they fought in the last season of Jericho. This is clearly the show's way of recapping the story from the first season of Jericho, a smart way to bring new viewers into the story line. And just before the commercial break we hear the hopeful words, "Nightmare's over, order will be restored."

Jake Green, one of the main characters of Jericho, isn't so sure that he likes what he hears when he is told that there is to be no revenge killings. In the last episode, first season of Jericho, Jake's Dad was killed by a man who goes by the name of Constantino. Jake is determined to kill this man for taking his father away from him. Heather is asked to be a liaison between the two towns, Jericho and New Bern. She isn't sure that she feels confident in this role. Meanwhile Jake is trying to devise a plan to kill Constantino to revenge the death of his Dad. Hawkins isn't too thrilled with Jake's decision making and therefore ducks out of the plan. Jake is warned that the Major has his eyes on him and that he should be careful of his actions. Then without fail the Major rolls up in his military vehicle and tells Jake to get in.

Jericho continues the suspense when Hawkins hears a noise outside and asks his wife if she was followed. He exits the doorway, gun in hand, and begins to search his surroundings. Meanwhile Jake runs into his brother Eric who has gathered a posse to try and kill Constantino. Jake tries to fight with Eric about killing Constantino arguing that it isn't what their Dad would want. However Eric disagrees with Jake. Their fight however is broken up by helicopters overhead. Hawkins is met by his pursuer and is held at gunpoint. Only Hawkins isn't too concerned...

Mimi gets Stanley out of a contract he should never have signed. Afterwards, Stanley is finally able to properly propose to Mimi, after she asked him to marry her spontaneously earlier in the show, and she accepted his proposal. Jake meets with the Major to accept his offer to appoint him as the Sheriff of Jericho.

If you have never watched Jericho I recommend you give it a chance. Jericho is a show with an interesting storyline sure to hook it viewers and keep them coming back for more. After all, it's the viewers who brought Jericho back to life.
