'Jersey Shore' Season Four at Risk as Cast Holds Out for More Money

"Jersey Shore" season four might get delayed if the cast and production can't come to an agreement very soon. It seems that the many of the main players in the "Jersey Shore" cast want to get a pay raise for the fourth season of the show, and that they are holding out for more money. This isn't the first time that the cast has tried to pull this trick on MTV, and maybe everyone should have seen it coming for that very reason.

According to TIMZ, several of the "Jersey Shore" cast members are refusing to renew their contracts until they get more money. Only one of the current cast members (Ronnie) has signed the new deal, meaning that there are quite a few that have decided to hold-out of the negotiations together. TMZ posed the theory that the cast probably sees the writing on the wall right now, and that season four of "Jersey Shore" could be the last one for all of them. That's certainly an incentive to try and get every last dollar that they can from MTV, but they aren't going to find a lot of sympathy from viewers of the show or the people at MTV.

It has been very clear that "Jersey Shore" is a huge cash cow for MTV, and it is one of those shows that get talked about all around Hollywood. Cast members regularly show up on talk shows like "Ellen," "The Tonight Show," and "David Letterman," showing that their popularity has crossed many different genres. They usually get paid for those appearances, and according to TMZ, some of the personal appearances for the cast can pay up to $40,000 an instance. That is a lot of money to simply make an appearance on a show, at an event, or in a club, and money talks in the land of Hollywood.

After season two aired on MTV, the cast basically boycotted contract negotiations to get a bigger chunk of the profits. During those negotiations, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley," Pauly D, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola were all given 200 percent raises. It bumped their individual salaries (per episode) to $30,000. For a ten episode season that meant $300,000 for each of the main cast members, and possibly more for special appearances or extra episodes (like a reunion show) getting added to the third season.

The success in their last holdout has probably filled the "Jersey Shore" cast with confidence about being able to pull it off again. The fourth season of the show is supposed to take place in Italy very soon, but no filming will begin until MTV can settle the deals.
