Jersey Shore Season Two Coming to MTV as New Contract Reached; The Return of Snookie and the Situation

MTV and the Cast of the Jersey Shore Finally Agreed to a New Contract Friday Night

The Jersey Shore second season premiere is coming soon. Thanks to a new contract between MTV and the Jersey Shore cast, the second season of the scripted reality show will be to the network in the very near future. In a contract dispute that evolved out of the Jersey Shore cast feeling they deserved more money, MTV offered them a big increase in pay for each episode to get the cast back to filming new episodes. MTV had them under contract already, but most of the cast was holding out to demand raises after they saw that they were starting to become famous on television and in publication. It's hard to blame the cast, but they wouldn't have gained sympathy had they been fired.

MTV brought an end to the negotiating phase by putting a deadline in place for the cast members to sign their new contracts (with a raise) and behind the scenes started preparing to re-cast those people who didn't come back. MTV really held all the cars here, but don't feel bad for any of these Jersey Shore cast members, who will get signing bonuses as well as a raise per episode that will put their salaries into six figures for the second season of the show. The next season will also have only 12 more episodes, that will begin airing this summer, and giving the network plenty of time to promote it heavily and get extra advertising dollars from the first season.

MTV seems to have "stuck gold" with this idea for a reality show, which shot up to number one in the demographic of 12 to 34 year old viewers. There were quite a few groups who felt that the shows was giving the people of New Jersey a bad name, but viewers continued to tune in to see the train-wreck on television. When the Jersey Shore season finale aired, they brought in a rating of 4.8 which is extremely high for any cable show that isn't football. Now MTV is obviously hoping that they can build up the hype for a second season and get it on the air before people start forgetting why they cared about this show in the first place.

I think that they should def cast new people for the 2nd season. At least fill Angelas spot since she left the show early. I think you need a hot girl to add to the mix and I would be the perfect candidate!
