Jersey Shore's Ronnie and Sammi: The Tide is High

Valerie Ferrari
Episode 6 of Season 2 of MTV's Jersey Shore aired on Thursday, 9/2/2010 culminating in the beginning of a catfight between Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola and Jenni "JWoww" Farley. The underlying issue was whether JWoww and Snooki were going to admit they were the authors of the anonymous letter sent to Sammi, providing details of something Sammi pretty much already knew. Her errant boyfriend, Ronnie Magro, was tomcatting around Miami and then coming home to snuggle up in bed with Sammi.

Everyone, Sammi included, pretty much knew JWoww and Snooki wrote the letter, but again, there is knowing, there is admitting, and there is getting someone to squeal, too. A frustated Sammi had little success in that area.

Ronnie Magro whined "I was single" every chance he got. His excuse for living it up with other girls is a good one. He and Sammi weren't officially together. But he has no excuse for his bad treatment of Sammi or stringing her along, pretending he wanted to be with her and lying his butt off whenever questioned about his escapades.

The anonymous letter was JWoww's idea from the gate. She got Snooki on board and they tried to line up a fall guy by involving Angelina, who really seems to be afraid of the overbearing, amazonian and siliconian JWoww. Angelina did not participate in crafting the typed letter detailing the location of Ronnie's head on the person of a cocktail waitress. Nevertheless, JWoww takes a shot at convincing Angelina that even though she had no part in composing or delivering the letter, just knowing about it makes her as guilty as JWoww and Snooki.

When the linguine finally hits the fan, Vinny squeals on Angelina for repeating part of JWoww's phone conversation to Sammi. JWoww marches down the hall to menace Angelina, but somehow Sammi sticks her two cents in and the argument escalates as JWoww screams "Jersey Trash" in Sammi's face and pushes her.

I found that a very interesting insult on a show named "Jersey Shore," don't you? It also dawned on me that it may be the reason Sammi's voice is the only one that doesn't get on my nerves, because she is really from New Jersey. Later on "Jersey Shore After Hours," Snooki said Sammi called her and JWoww whores. I didn't hear that one, but this show is hard to follow in the first place, what with all the bleepings and shouting. It would be better on a channel where they didn't have to bleep everything.

On the "After Hours" show, Julissima questioned "single" Ronnie on his behavior: "Do you realize how different you are as single Ronnie," she asked the musclebound guido. "I realize how wild I am as single Ronnie. No standards, no rules. I just pretty much go crazy," he replied.

The thing is the whole Miami thing happened months ago and the cast is currently back in Jersey working on Season 3. Sammi and Ronnie are apparently back together, looking as happy as clams at high tide in recent photos.

I don't know if the Ronnie and Sammi romance is real or faked for the Jersey Shore show, but they are a cute couple in the photos. Someday, as in all reality shows, how much was real and how much was faked will wash up on the beach like a mannequin wearing socks.

Perhaps the term "Jersey trash" is one of those terms of endearment. Nah.
