Today I am addressing the addiction to Facebook and their game Farmville. Originally, I needed just a few minutes of a pleasant diversion when I suffered from writer's block. So at their request, I started playing Farmville so I could send gifts to my sister and daughter who both played this game. Little did I know that I would get hooked on this drug. Oh yes, I did give it up for a while when it just drove me crazy. Don't ask me why I came back, I guess it is why addictions are just that…addictions!
So now I am back and instead of having a farm…I now have three farms that are running consecutively. One in the U.S., one in the U.K. and now one in Lighthouse Cove, wherever that is! So now instead of just spending a few minutes a couple times a day, it takes hours of my time to cultivate trees and crops and build homes and playpens for animals.
If you have never played this game, I urge you not to start. If you have played and were able to walk away, then give us the facts about how you did it. It is totally out of control how much work this "fun game" entails. But now that I am doing a daily rant, I can express my frustrations and share with my readers just how annoying certain things in our life can be. These are things that we put up with daily and just do not even stop and realize how annoying they are and how they affect our life.
I love Facebook for the opportunity they give us writers for posting our articles and giving a wider audience the opportunity to view our best works. I also love the fact that I have hooked up with long lost friends and even relatives I never knew existed. But now I am hearing Betty White's words ringing in my ears; "Facebook is just a complete waste of time!" Well, at least Farmville is!
Dr. Drew, if you are listening, there are more addictions than drugs and alcohol, so maybe next season, the online addicts should have their day in the sun!

Post a CommentI love your rants, they remind me of Pattie Byrd's old series. Can't be bothered with FB games.
I never play FB games... a waste of time. Good rant, thanks!
I am always afraid to start anything new as I consider old is gold. I am not into these activities seeing especially the young quite oblivious to their surroundings and even the realities of life. Your addiction gives me another defense to keep away from the craze of modernty! siva
I don't even know what farmville is nor do I care to find out. I just think it is a waste of precious time.
I don't play any of the games on FaceBook!
I've never played a Facebook game and probably won't start. Thanks for the warning,
I'm with Betty White and don't like FB. I keep getting invites to join Farmville or help someone buy a cow and I have no idea how to play the game. Don't want to either.
I am not a gamer! But, my niece plays for hours!!! cheers ;)
