Jesse Ventura for President 2012

On Starting a Draft Campaign

Austin Post
So here we are two months off from the 2008 presidential election and here I am talking about 2012 already. Some will look upon me like some fool, but I can tell you that I am philosophically incompatible with either Senator John McCain or Senator Barack Obama, no matter how good or bad the economy is four years from now. This year I supported Ron Paul for the Republican nomination and I am all behind Libertarian nominee Bob Barr in the general election. Speaking of Ron Paul, if it were not for what he started we wouldn't be having this conversation now. Ron Paul began the Revolution that Bob Barr and Constitution nominee Chuck Baldwin are carrying on to this day; that being said, I expect that the next standard bearer will be Jesse Ventura, and I will do everything in my power to make that happen.

I became convinced of the need for former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura (I) to be a presidential candidate in 2012 when I saw the Ron Paul Rally from the Republic live from Minneapolis on C-SPAN. Ventura has always been saying, "Maybe we need to put a wrestler in the White House?" He's been saying since about 2004, and he hasn't run yet but I have always expected him to. Ventura has been teasing us for years, and I think he knows as well as I do that 2012 is his year. The Ron Paul Revolution was his way of testing the water. Nonetheless, as Ventura mentioned his excellent speech at the rally, he can't be expected to run unless he sees that the groundwork is out there and there is a base of support. I am out there trying to lay the groundwork, and I am doing it with my blog, Ventura 2012. As far as I have seen mine is only the second website on the entire Internet dedicated to promoting Jesse Ventura for President in 2012. I might just be playing a part in history.

I suppose that after having been convinced of the need for Ventura in 2012, the thing that got me to get active was a feature I saw on the Colbert Report. Supposedly some 21 year old blogger was the first person to promote Sarah Palin as a VP pick for the as of then undecided GOP nominee way back in 2007. I am convinced of the importance of blogs in driving our political system at this point, and I've got four years to lay the groundwork's and recruit more people to the cause of Jesse Ventura in 2012. These things being said, if you read any of my other work you will find some fairly negative opinions on democracy. Those opinions are expected to stand, that is unless I am proven wrong but a high turnout for Ventura in 2012. Again, I must note that when I refer to "democracy" I am more or less speaking of pure democracy (to which this nation has devolved) rather than the Old Republic of limited government.

So why exactly Jesse? I can't help but repeat that besides Bob Barr and Ron Paul, there hasn't been a bigger champion of liberty election to Federal or statewide office anywhere in the USA since Arizona Senator and 1964 Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater. This being said, Jesse Ventura is the first authentic pro-liberty person with statewide executive experience in a very long time. Even stretching back to Robert Taft and Howard Buffet, we find only the occasional senator or representative championing the cause of liberty; a governor is quite rare but we have it in Jesse Ventura. Additionally, Jesse Ventura is the most prominent pro-liberty candidate and is probably only behind Clint Eastwood, Kurt Russell, John Stossel, and Dwight Yoakum as the biggest libertarian celebrity in America. I believe firmly that Ventura's political experience, his celebrity status, his name recognition, his popularity, his status as a Vietnam veteran, as well as many other things could culminate in a possible win. Even if he were not to win, he would probably be the first pro-liberty candidate in a long time to even stand a chance.

What I need to make happen in the next few years is to build up an alliance of bloggers and activists who are promoting Ventura to be a presidential candidate in 2012. Hopefully we can lay the groundwork for a serious presidential campaign for Gov. Ventura so that all he has to do is jump into the race at some later point. I believe that the early start is key. People will immediately begin speculating about 2012 as soon as 2008 is over, and hopefully I can draw some media attention to a potential Ventura candidacy. If all goes well and my efforts pay off, hopefully we can throw Jesse Ventura into the race as a serious independent candidate in '12!

ron paul as president and jesse ventura as veep....an amazing combination.....jesse taps into the outrage we common folk hold toward the elitists on wall street.....if only we could make this pairing a reality......with ron pauls sensibilities and jesses, sense of outrage at our political status quo in washington.....these two will [ cut to the chase ].....

Yes we need a no nonsense president who is not afraid to stand up for the right thing. He has an inherent skill to keep people responsible for their actions. I don't think the financial collapse would have happened onhis watch and it did those bums would be in jail

I would like to start a national campaign to get as many signatures as possible for Jesse Ventura to run for President in the 2012 election. The time is now for a third party and we need to get behind Jesse Ventura to lead it. If your tired of having to pick the lesser of two evils every time we have an election then Volunteer. If someone knows more about laying the ground work for a campaign I would really like your help and input.

Jesse Ventura could be the greatest thing to happen to this country since our founding fathers. We nee someone who is not afraid to do the right thing for the people instead of the right thing for his political party. I would vote for Ventura without question.
