My father works at a correctional facility as a correctional guard for the state of Arizona. I am often hearing of prisoners who commit crimes that are almost unthinkable. Amongst these harden criminals are also those who forma a relationship with some of the correctional officers. I can tell you from experiences of some of the correctional officers that I have met that the punishment that the correctional officers get can ruin their lives and the people around them.
This doesn't just happen between a woman inmate and a correctional officer; it has also happened with men inmates and woman supervisors. Just like Jessica Gonzalez, the inmate does not get punished when a sexual occurrence happens between a correctional officer and an inmate. The facilities often look at it as though the guard is the one that should know better.
I often ask myself why people like Jessica Gonzalez would commit such a horrible crime. My dad always tells me not to ask or it will drive you insane trying to find the answer. I also wonder why a correctional officer would want to form an intimate relationship with a harden criminal. I have yet to find the answers but I do perceive it as something that just happens.
After my son was killed I have no pity for those like Jessica Gonzalez that have been incarcerated for killing another human being. It is beyond me as to why someone would want to do such a horrible crime or why someone else would want to be with them.
If you are working at a correctional facility, just remember that the punishment for having a sexual encounter with an inmate will make you lose your job and you can even have to do prison time over it. There is no second chance when you are caught for doing something like this there is only the punishment that comes with it.

Post a CommentWhat I find most interesting is that this woman is only serving 10 years of a 40-year sentence. What the hell? It's ridiculous. She cold-bloodedly (is that a word?) murdered another human being. Premeditated, with malice aforethought. Drove over to the girl's house and shot her between the eyes. No way there's rehabilitation for that. And you know what? The parole board said they wanted to let her out in time to enroll in fall classes at a community college. Un-effing-believable...
