Jessica Simpson Doesn't Regularly Brush Her Teeth; How Smart is that to Admit Publicly?

Jessica Simpson doesn't regularly brush her teeth, according to an admission on iheartradio March 10, which you can see here at YouTube. The singer, movie star, and television personality said "I do brush every now and again", but admitted that Listerine and her sweater are her prime choices of dental hygiene tools. Jessica Simpson acknowledged that not brushing her teeth could mean that those choppers could fall out by the time she is 60 years old, even though she claims that "my teeth are extremely powerful." How would you like to be the publicist that has to handle this "train wreck" of a comment, a comment made as she was wearing what looked like an old Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt and torn britches: do you see some "redneck" jokes about her coming up?

Jessica Simpson Doesn't Regularly Brush Her Teeth: How Smart Is It to Admit this Publicly?

From the time we are children, many of us have been admonished to brush our teeth at least once, before going to bed, if not twice or more per day from our parents, the schools, and dentists. Whenever I go to the dentist for my six month cleanings, I'm asked how often I brush and floss on a daily basis. The American Dental Association tells folks to "Brush your teeth twice a day with an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste" according to their website. I couldn't find anything about using one's sweater. Imagine using something like a sweater, which gets exposed to germs and bacteria while out in public. We all may not have the same hygiene habits, but admitting that you don't regularly brush your teeth publicly, especially when you are in the public light like Jessica Simpson, is very ill advised. She's given her detractors even more ammunition to go after her with when there's already an "arsenal" available.

Jessica's Simpson's The Price of Beauty premiered on VH1 Monday night, which I wrote about at Associated Content here, and in that first episode, she admitted how difficult it is to be in the celebrity limelight. Well, how much more difficult is it going to be when you shoot yourself in the foot figuratively with an admission about less than ideal dental hygiene via not regularly brushing her teeth? On the program, Jessica Simpson talked about being single again. Well, how many potential mates has she driven away by admitting something like this? Did her past bellywarmers like Tony Romo and John Mayer get turned off by her dental hygiene habits?

Jessica Simpson needs to realize that people really don't need to hear about her personal hygiene habits, like how often she brushes her teeth. "The price of beauty" is sometimes keeping your mouth shut and brushing your teeth regularly.

I think she was just kidding. There's no way her teeth would look like they do with just an occassional brushing.

We're talking about it and she's getting the attention. They're probably all capped anyway.

Who cares! I bet more than half of you people out there forget to brush your teeth as often as you should. Just ask your dentist they'd tell you the truth. TMI my a** she's human. Get a life.

Maybe her teeth are fake so it doesn't matter if she brushes them or not. Ewww!

she is flakey and an idiot....if she doesn't brush her teeth why do we need to know that?

Not sure why I thought of this but when I was much younger and our large family ran out of toothpaste, Mom would get the baking soda out. In our clean palms, she poured a little soda in, and instructed us to dip our brush into it to clean our teeth. It worked fine. I think that was before floride.

She looks like she brushes her teeth, actually she looks really good and I hear she is napalm in bed:) The National Academy of Sciences did a thorough review on fluoride in 2006. They documented numerous deleterious effects of fluoride on many organ systems including increased potential risk for bone fractures (the well characterized disease of skeletal fluorosis) possibly increased risk of osteosarcoma, reduced IQ, thyroid dysfunction, endocrine dysfunction and others all 300 pages is online if anyone cares to confirm it. Of course don't forget fluoride induced dental fluorsosis (i.e. teeth mottling and a sign of toxic exposure to fluoride) They ended with recommending that the EPA should more strictly regulate fluoride. Their findings mirror those in the peer-reviewed medical literature, while Harvard trained toxicologist Phyllis Mullenix also extensively documented behavioral changes in mice upon exposure to blood levels of fluoride not far greater than those experienced through wa
