Jessica Simpson Sad About Nick's Engagement? Not so She Tells Ryan Seacrest

Jessica Simpson is not sad over the news that her ex Nick Lachey has asked Vanessa Minnillo to be his wife. In fact, Simpson spoke with Ryan Seacrest today (November 11) and said quite the opposite, wishing him all the best.

Additionally, via Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show, Simpson said "I am extremely, extremely happy for him." (Note she said extremely twice, obviously for emphasis.)

Simpson also went on to explain, "I don't know where all those rumors came from," she said. "My mom actually called me and told me that everybody was saying that I was 'saddened.' And I was just in complete shock."

Those rumors that Jessica was 'saddened' hit the web and tabloid outlets immediately after Lachey proposed to long-time girlfriend Minnillo last Thursday. One of the first reports came from Rob Shuter of Popeater who quoted a "friend" of Simpson's claiming that it "was a very difficult time" for Jessica.

Regardless, Simpson's story (and this news is straight from the proverbial horse's mouth) is that she is happy for the new couple. She told Seacrest, "You know, our relationship was over a really long time ago, so it would be nice if everybody could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa. I do, and I wish them nothing but the best."

I kind of thought they'd get back together. Guess not!
