Jessica Simpson's Fashion Line Could Make History

Why I Am Glad to See Jessica Doing so Well

I am thrilled to see Jessica Simpson's fashion line reach the mark of $750 million dollars and reports expect her to see the $1 billion mark with the launch of her upcoming sportswear line in the coming year.

I have watched Jessica Simpson over the years as she has grown from a naïve young wife into a beautiful, mature woman who has shed the dumb blonde image and turned herself into one powerful and brilliant business woman.

Jessica Simpson first hit the scenes as singer in 1999 and later as a reality TV star in 2002 but it looks like her fashion line is going to be her greatest hit yet.

With a line of clothing and accessories that offers something for most women at any age and prices that are competitive with stores such as Express, Jessica is bound to reach the $1billion mark with ease.

Having been deemed a dumb blonde among other insults over the years, Jessica has been very much underestimated. A beautiful young woman who has struggled with a new marriage, the end of that marriage, a music career and the media that has both loved and attacked her, Jessica has managed to find a way to touch real women everywhere.

Her struggles made her human to women, her fluctuation weight made her "one of us" as she was attacked for her weight gain in the media. Her divorce from Nick, made me want to stand up and cheer to see her leave a marriage in which she dealt with a man who constantly treated her like she was stupid, left her often feeling not good enough and as the mother of a teenage daughter made me want to cry each week.

Jessica was portrayed as a lazy, sloppy, dumb wife who had been judged because she didn't know how to keep a home and had to apologize for spending eight hundred dollars on bras. It seemed to me that she made a good income and he was determining how money was spent for both of them.

I realized even then, that the ratings seemed to be based on exploiting the typical questions that would normally come out of a young woman who had been sheltered most of her life. How many women walk into a marriage and can cook and clean like Martha Stewart if they hadn't been taught by their mother to do so? I remember when I first married at the age of 20; I could burn canned soup and discovered that frozen dinners could be burned on the outside while still frozen on the inside. Today, I am one heck of a good cook, but it took me time and many ruined meals before I was able to invite guests for dinner. Nobody bothered to take the time with Jessica and offer her help as it was more fun to cut her down and call her dumb. She wasn't dumb; she was young and inexperienced.

As a woman and a mother, I am cheering Jessica's success and I will be watching closely as she makes history as the first celebrity clothing line to reach the billion-dollar mark. For someone who has been deemed a dumb blonde by the media, I am thrilled to see her prove them all wrong.

I hope this will be one of many successes for Jessica Simpson in the years to come.
