Satan says: "The great are mine!
Proudly fares my fearless band,
Rank oppression in their hand.
Mighty princes work my weal;
Works of darkness bear their seal.
All the great are surely mine."
Satan says: "The rich are mine!
See them bow in service mean,
Praising me with ardor keen
For the wealth I freely give
That in vices they may live.
All the great are surely mine."
Satan says: "The wise are mine!
Cleverly in every art
They reflect the devil's heart.
With a logic deftly dim
They defend each evil whim.
All the wise are surely mine."
Jesus says: "The meek are Mine!
In their hearts the meek despise
Satan's proud pretentious lies.
Come, ye rich, ye wise, ye great;
With the lowly flee your fate;
For the meek are surely mine."
