Monday's incident reportedly began aboard a flight coming into John F. Kennedy airport in New York from Pittsburgh. Jetblue flight attendant Steven Slater reportedly got into a verbal altercation with an airline passenger who wasn't following proper landing rules regarding staying seated.
Jetblue Flight Attendant Steven Slater Arrested After On-Board Incident at JFK
According to ABC News, the verbal altercation between the Jetblue flight attendant (Steven Slater) and the unnamed Jetblue passenger allegedly began when the passenger attempted to retrieve his luggage from an overhead bin before the plane had come to rest at the terminal.
What began as a simple argument quickly progressed to a much more dramatic scene when the Jetblue flight attendant was apparently struck with something; possibly a bag from the overhead bin. ABC News reports it may have been the door to the bin, and there is as yet no indication this was an act of violence from the passenger's end.
Jetblue flight attendant Steven Slater, 38, reportedly completely lost control at this point, cursing over the cabin PA and consuming alcohol while on duty. Steven Slater is said to have grabbed the microphone and told everyone in the cabin to "go f--k" themselves just before he stormed off the plane. The enraged Jetblue flight attendant then exited the aircraft via the emergency chute and ran through the terminal to the parking lot. Also of note: just before Steven Slater deplaned, he grabbed himself a beer for the road. All that screaming must have made him thirsty!
According to ABC News, Jetblue flight attendant Steven Slater has been charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment as a result of today's crazy behavior. Jetblue has not yet stated if Steven Slater will be terminated as a result of the Monday afternoon incident at JFK, though it is highly unlikely he will be flying the friendly skies anytime soon. Talk about poor customer service!

Post a CommentNice reporting.
Having worked in the airline business for a few years myself (most of the 90s) I can surely relate - there are far too many people who, when going to fly, check both their manners and their brains (if they had them at all) at the curb...
I don't condone his behavior but I don't think it warrants criminal charges. This sort of thing should be handled internally by the employer, JetBlue, not by the police who have enough things to handle!
Now that guy went out with a bang!
Too many passengers do get up and start taking things out of the overhead bins when they should be seated. They jeopardize the safety of the other passengers. This steward may be reprimanded for alcohol use while on duty if that is the case, however, the passenger needs to be banned from flights for not obeying the airline staff and staying seated, for jeopardizing the safety of other passengers, and for assault on the steward.
They arrested him? Really? Who did he hurt? Surely a string of swear words and a quick exit is how a lot of people quit their jobs. (Especially in customer service) As a former customer service person, I can fully understand how the rudeness of some customers can lead a person to swearing and quitting. Besides, wasn't he the one assaulted? When will the passenger be arrested? Oh, yes, that's right, the customer is always right. It's been a while. I forgot. Poor guy!
wow!!!
Wow....
Good reporting I had not heard of this.
