JetBlue: Steven Slater, Flight Attendant Becomes Celebrity '" Could There Be a Reality Show?

Steven Slater, the Irate JetBlue Flight Attendant Has More Personality Than Most Reality Show Stars!

Meg G.
Steven Slater, the JetBlue flight attendant has been getting national attention and that comes as little surprise. Steven Slater exited his JetBlue flight, beer in hand after a confrontation with a cantankerous passenger who refused to sit down and hit him on the head with their luggage. He was arrested and charged with various crimes and faces up to 7 years in jail because of the situation. Furthermore, JetBlue will have to spend an upwards of $25,000 replacing the inflatable chute he used to get off the plane.

The whole story sounds like something made for TV - a "reality" show moment. This begs me to ask the question - now that Steven Slater has become an overnight celebrity because of his outburst, will he get his own reality TV show?

You can't tell me the thought hasn't crossed your mind. After all, he's got the perfect scenario for a heartwarming reality show. He's got an ill mother, he worked in a high stress industry, he lived in New York, he's flamboyant, he's got a great personality and was connected to the world via social networking (confirming that he worked at a Burberry counter) - so where's VH1?

I spent (or wasted) a couple hours of my life on Sunday watching "The Ultimate Catch" with Chad Ochocinco and the TO show. Surely this guy, Steven Slater's, life is far more interesting than any NFL player "looking for love" or trying to become a "better person." Yawn.

I then went on to waste even more time on "Khloe and Kourtney Take Miami" watching Kris Jenner butt in Kourtney's relationship with Scott (give it a rest - they have a baby and he's not going anywhere any time soon.) I also watched several annoyingly giggly girls living in "The Bunny House" next to the Playboy mansion for a half hour.

So if I was willing to waste roughly 3 hours on a perfectly good Sunday watching mediocre reality TV, I would definitely waste 30 minutes to an hour watching a reality show about a guy that got his fame from getting fed up at JetBlue - quitting his job in the most theatrical way I have ever heard of. That just screams "this guy has personality."

So come on, TV producers - go out and sign this guy. He's got charisma and spunk, and he gained national attention doing something that many people have fantasized about (quitting their job in a very "memorable" way). Stop wasting your time on athletes and other celebrities who are used to fame and fortune and don't have "real" stories to tell.

Good article. I think the reason nothing was done about the passenger is beginning to come to light since the passengers are not corroborating his story. According to the Wall Street Journal today some are saying he appeared drunk and was behaving a little "off". He could get seven years. Seems a bit much. But, it will be interesting to see what happens. I don't think people need any more abuse from the airline industry. We've all had enough and this guy's behavior is the perfect example of what we've all had enough of. There must be a lot of sociopaths working in the airline industry these days - who else could stand it?

As I have worked in the flight industry, believe me, there are laws in place for passengers such as the woman described. FAA covers this thoroughly, or they should. It is a FEDERAL OFFENSE TO ASSAULT A CREW MEMBER!! This person, I understand a woman, should be brought up on arrest charges for this FEDERAL OFFENSE!!!! The fact nothing has been said or done about her is just absurd!! Get with it JET BLUE administrators and higher ups....get this passenger !!!!!!
