Activities that are featured at this festival include a visit to the barnyard zoo that contains various exotic animals, such as different types of chickens, goats (one of which is a LaMancha breed), geese, a donkey, and a Vietnamese pot-bellied piglet, for you to feed and pet, a hay ride to the corn maze where you can roam around and explore, an opportunity to pick that perfect Virginia grown pumpkin that you would like to have for decoration or to use for a yummy recipe, and then, a hay ride to the main barn where you can enjoy a break, a snack, or lunch. Hands-on educational opportunities for children to learn about farm life, local Virginia food, and the importance of agriculture are provided throughout the day, and these informative experiences help to satisfy certain Standards of Learning requirements related to these topics.
A number of local products are for sale in the main barn of the farm. These goods include seasonal flowers (i.e. chrysanthemums), ice cream, apples, fresh apple and cherry ciders, hand carved coasters, Indian corn, and even local honey that includes the honeycomb. The snacks and lunch items that are for purchase also are composed of Virginia grown and made products.
The cost for everything (excluding the snack, lunch, and other local items for sale) is $6 per person. The snack, lunch, and other Virginia products for purchase are also offered for reasonable prices as well.
